On this “Rogation Sunday”*, hear the comforting words of the Gospel:

“Verily, verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full” (John xvi). *from the Latin, rogare - to ask

Today in the Church calendar, we commemorate the life and witness of Gregory the Great, Doctor of the Church and Bishop (d. 604). We especially remember in prayer those ministries that bear his name.

O GOD, our heavenly Father, who didst raise up thy faithful servant Gregory to be a Bishop in thy Church and to feed thy flock: We beseech thee to send down upon all thy Bishops, the Pastors of thy Church, the abundant gift of thy Holy Spirit, that they, being endued with power from on high, and ever walking in the footsteps of thy holy Apostles, may minister before thee in thy household as true servants of Christ and stewards of thy divine mysteries; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the same Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.

The fullness of truth. The fullness of time. Fully God and fully man.

As we round the corner in our journey towards the incarnation, with the forward looking anticipation of the coming again, St. Barnabas invites you to join us for worship during this season.

The Fourth Sunday in Advent, December 21, 10:30 am.

Midnight Mass, the first mass of Christmas, December 24, 11:30 pm.

Christmas Day Mass, December 25, 2025. 10:30 am.

"Adam’s likeness, Lord, efface,
Stamp Thine image in its place:
Second Adam from above,
Reinstate us in Thy love.
Let us Thee, though lost, regain,
Thee, the Life, the inner man:
O, to all Thyself impart,
Formed in each believing heart."

At the mid-point in Advent, on the third Sunday of the season, "Gaudete Sunday" is observed. This marks a break from the solemnity of Advent as we shift our focus from the long wait for Messiah, to rejoicing in his imminent arrival. Many parishes will use rose vestments to mark this day, and introit will declare: "Rejoice" - the English translation for the Latin word "Gaudete."
