Spanish Bible Ministry June 2021
In Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, the writer said, “there is a time for all things; a time to be born and a time to die.”
We as humans have just gone through a time when uncertainty was foremost on most people’s minds all over the world. What should we do - listen totally to the Government in fear or trust God who removes all fears and turns fear into hope and opportunity.
My wife and I have been led into a ministry of Bible distribution to the less fortunate in the hills and jungles of the Latino world. A very cheap Bible would cost $2.00 Canadian which is probably the cost of food for a week for a family. If the family found a way to obtain a Bible, they probably could not read it because of illiteracy. But God is a mighty God and through In Touch Ministries and other Christian organizations, audio Bibles are being distributed to these areas. The whole Bible then becomes the size of a deck of cards translated into their language. These messengers are solar powered so easily charged for these people. It is amazing for the illiterate to hear the Word of God in their language and to have Dr. Stanley give messages with Bible principles.
Also, in these areas of the world most people have cell phones --- a tracking system for the government, free or at a very low cost. God is using that device to send His Word around the world. The SD card in the phone is removed and the Bible SD card can be loaded onto it. In any culture where Christianity is a negative word, the Bible is on that phone forever. An audio messenger was given to a Pastor. Most Pastors in those areas have to work so this Pastor took his messenger to his work and started to play the Bible to all the workers. Eventually all the workers gave their hearts to the Lord Jesus just because of his messenger.
In the state of Vera Cruz, a local missionary has started a large number of house churches in the mountains. Many of their groups meet under extreme hardship because of the communities in the past was and, in some cases, still are under the control of Satanic leadership. Needless to say, the leaders want no competition from God and will eliminate anyone who has a Bible or tries to speak of Jesus Christ. One family I am told gave their hearts and lives to the Lord and all their possessions were destroyed and they were forced to leave the community. Vera Cruz state, state of Pueblo and many other areas of Mexico are being evangelized by this dedicated missionary.
In the state of Yucatan and Quintana Roo, the worship of Mayan gods is very prevalent, and education is not encouraged there. Thus, the messenger is a valuable tool for the Pastors to take into the jungle. Most of these Pastors are very, very poor and the messengers allow them to both share God’s Word and the teachings of Dr. Charles Stanley. Where these messengers ever end up, we cannot always know but there is a very strong demand for Christian teaching in the Mayan world.
In the centre of Mexico, a young couple, Chely and Gus, are full time missionaries to their own people. One day they called 10 Pastors to come together and they would receive Spanish Bibles, messengers, and other Christian materials to assist their ministries. Can you believe 150 people came !! This overwhelmed the young couple but they could see the tremendous need for the Gospel. They held an event in another community a year ago to teach Bible school to the kids. The parents were very skeptical but now they are holding 3 services a week for all ages. These are common stories in the third world.
Another area that is not well known to most of us is the Canadian Migrant Farm Workers. A number of Pastors and Christian leaders use these ways to get God’s Word into the primitive areas of the Latino world. It is easy for one of these migrant workers to take the messengers or SD cards back home with him and it can influence hundreds that a printed Bible could not.
As I write these notes, we just mailed a shipment of messengers to a Pastor friend of ours who works in the hills of Bolivia. His plan is to share one to each of his Pastor friends. This gentleman is a friend I met over 10 years ago while we were on a mission trip and still comments on how appreciative he is of the Bibles we took to him at that time.
All of the Christian materials that we give to Pastors are free. At no time is money exchanged. All communication is done through Pastors, teachers, and Christian workers. People are very concerned that their fellow countrymen need Jesus.
I see a new kind of missionary today. Going and preaching is now about sending helps or making connections with key people in other countries whom you can trust. With modern technology like messengers and SD cards from In Touch and other Christian organizations a more freer movement of the scripture worldwide.
We are thankful to be a part of this very valuable missionary approach. We give all the credit to a marvelous God.
There is no greater investment to pay the dividends for a mansion in glory.
