Trinity United Church Montreal

Trinity United Church Montreal Invited to share and grow in God's love. 💗🌈 All are welcome in this place. Zoom with us: 409 899 9875, passcode 901455 About our Mission Statement!

Join us Sundays at 11 AM in person, by Zoom, or YouTube Live,
except last Sunday of month, 11:00 AM at sister church Anjou United. Inviting All to Share and Grow in God's Love . . . Inviting

Inviting is the first word and probably one of the most important. In the context of the church we can see that this word becomes not a quality of our congregation but an active process in which we can all p

articipate. Trinity United believes that it is up to us to reach out to others in our community and invite them to participate in our congregation and to hear the Good News. Jesus didn't sit around on a rock waiting for his disciples to walk by and say, "Hey! I want to follow you!" He sought out these men and invited them by saying, "Come and follow me," and as the followers of Jesus we are called to be "fishers of men" to also seek out others. All

All may be one of the most challenging words because it speaks directly to the question of “who do we want in our church family?”. The word “All” is a completely inclusive word. That is to say that no one is excluded from an invitation into our church. Jesus commonly invited the lowly and despised into his circle of friends, and so we, like Jesus, do not limit to whom this invitation is extended. When we use the word “All” we understand that this invitation to join Jesus through participation in the life and works of Trinity comes directly from God and is only being passed on by us. The invitation is open to all, but it is up to us to make sure “All” people receive it. Share

We all learn from a very young age that it's important to Share. As children we are urged to share our toys with other children or our siblings. As teenagers we may need to learn to share the car with the rest of the family. And as adults we learn to share not just our resources, but our emotions, concerns, joys, triumphs, and failures with others. We share the joy with others that we receive from a loving relationship with Jesus Christ and we will share the joys of others as they experience it. Grow

The word "Grow" means "to get bigger", but in our church lives, we grow in spiritual awareness, we grow in our faith, and we grow in our understanding of the Word of God. The church is a planted seed, and our fertilizers are dedication to the church family, inspiration, innovation, love, trust, and many others. In God's Love

The last words of the Vision Statement are "in God's Love." This short phrase qualifies all of the other things that we're doing in the church. It answers the question of "Why?" "Why are we inviting people to church?" "Why are we sharing and growing?" It is because of God's Love.
. . Finally, there is the elipsis — the three dots ". . .". These indicate to us that all those things we do, such as inviting, sharing, growing, and working in God's love are ongoing processes. The church is not a static place, and our vision is one of action.

Sunday is coming. Welcome to June, and to another beautiful weekend together. Life is a journey. Some of it can be planned, but sometimes we have to trust in the Lord, and find something beautiful and meaningful in the unexpected.

Our Scripture reading this week focuses on Jesus calling unlikely followers, healing, and restoring life -- underscoring hope even in seemingly impossible situations.

Rev. Read will be away for all of the Trinity services in June. This week, the Girl Power tag team of Beverly Clark and Christine Tatarewicz are back to delight you. Their sermon is entitled “Called to Cross Boundaries”.

Join us on Sunday June 7 at 11:00 AM, followed by a congregational meeting at 1:30 PM to wrap up some unfinished business from March. For the meeting, please refer to your June 2 email for details and to download the documents for review.

Coming in person? A light lunch will be served to those staying for the meeting. Your freewill donation will be much appreciated. Please head down to the gym for food and fellowship.

Tuning in from home? We will pause our online broadcast during lunch -- techies need to eat too. You can Zoom in to the meeting from ~1:20. YouTube streaming will not be available during the meeting, as we need to be able to identify all attendees.

Thanks for stopping by, and see you on Sunday! 🙏🏻🌱

Looking for an all-ages approach to Sunday School? We offer Family Sunday on the last Sunday of the month. Join us on Sunday May 31 at 11 AM.

We understand navigating the streets during the 'ile can be difficult and frustrating. Our May 30 newsletter offers maps and links for both car people and bus people. (You aren't a subscriber yet?! Drop us a line and we'll get you on the list.) TL;DR: 1) The 67 St. Michel bus is completely cancelled between 9:30 AM and 4:15 PM. 2) The 197 Rosemount bus will stop at Trinity, but is rerouted near the Rosemount metro.

Thanks for stopping by, and see you on Sunday! 🙏🏻🚲

Today is a special Saturday. We have not one but two activities open to the general public.

Join us at 1 PM for Open Sanctuary. We start with Prayer Group, where every name and situation on our hearts and on our weekly prayer list is lifted up to God. This is followed by Christian Meditation, a time of silence and wonder as we open up to God's presence.

At 3 PM, the Narthex is transformed to the Lizard Lounge for another exciting afternoon of Karaoke! All ages and all levels of talent (or lack thereof!) welcome! You can pick your song(s) with KJ Read when you get here. Freewill donation towards refreshments much appreciated.

We look forward to seeing you this afternoon. Have a great day! 🧘🏻🙏🏻👩🏻‍🎤

Please enjoy today's worship service, celebrating Pentecost. This is the day when the Holy Spirit descended from heaven and appeared to the apostles as tongues of fire, enabling each person to preach in a variety of languages. Our guest presider Erika Leung presented this to us by translating Peter's speech in the Scripture reading into 6 languages. Erika's sermon was entitled “Worship God in Spirit and in Truth”, and spoke about how unity is not the same as uniformity.

Our next worship service will be on Sunday June 7. Rev. Read will be away [no not *still* -- he will be back for the Anjou service and other activities, then goes again] and filling in for him will be the girl-power tag team of Beverly Clark and Christine Tatarewicz. See you there! 🔥

This Sunday is Pentecost, one of the most important days on the Christian calendar. This is the day we celebrate the Holy Spirit’s arrival on earth, when the apostles spoke in tongues and no matter what language you spoke, you could understand the Word of God. May we feel the winds of God on our faces and the flames of Pentecost bringing us together in celebration and unity.

Rev. Read will be away, and filling in for him is divinity student Erika Leung. Her sermon is entitled “Worship God in Spirit and in Truth”.

Join us on Sunday May 24 at 11:00 AM -- in person, on Zoom, or on YouTube Live. See you there!

For the past 4 years, we have been asking: "What are YOU doing this Thursday?!" and the answer was an activity with Friends, Food, and Fun (FFF). FFF met weekly to bring together adults of all ages for a stimulating activity -- sometimes at the church, sometimes offsite. Lunch was part of the plan, whether homemade or in a restaurant.

FFF’s closing meeting was on May 14. Let's take a look at the end of an era. 🖼🍔💐

Our statutory holiday in May -- whether you call it Victoria Day, Journée des patriotes, or something else -- signifies the beginning of summer and the arrival of warmer, greener days.

Trinity’s office will be closed and there are no activities scheduled on Monday May 18. Enjoy your day!

Please enjoy today's worship service. In March at both Trinity's Annual Congregational Meeting and that of our sister church Anjou United Church, we the congregation elected the administrators and committee leaders to guide our work for 2026/27. These leaders were recognized and blessed today, along with our paid employees and other roles such as the coffee crew and those who count the offering.

Rev. Read's sermon, "Making Love Visible", illuminated the many, often unsung volunteer roles in our church(es) and tied in the Scripture selection from the Gospel of John.

Thinking about volunteering at Trinity? Our Ministries are always happy for extra hands and hearts. Learn about our Ministries here: https://trinityuc.net/connect-with-a-ministry/

Join us next week, Sunday May 24, for Pentecost. Read will be away and filling in for him will be divinity student Erika Leung. See you then! ⛪
