🌍 Study Groups 6 and 7: new proposals for a more synodal Church.
Synod_va today publishes the Final Report of Study Group 6, on the relationship between bishops, consecrated life and ecclesial associations, together with the second part of the Final Report of Study Group 7, on the ad limina Visits. XIV directed that the Reports be made public, as a concrete expression of transparency and accountability in a synodal Church.
"These two Reports may appear to address different matters, but they say the same thing: there is no mission without converted relationships," says Card Mario Grech , Secretary General of the Synod. "We listen to one another, we give an account, and we exchange gifts."
Among the proposals: 👉shared criteria for discerning new institutes, a delegate for consecrated life in every diocese, and mandatory agreements between dioceses and institutes covering formation, gender equality, remuneration and the administration of assets. For the ad limina Visits, a journey prepared with the entire local Church, experienced as an "exchange of gifts" in a dialogue that is not one-directional, and subject to independent evaluation.
👉These are proposals, not decisions already taken. 🙏

¡Hola Challengers!
Hope this message finds you well.

For this week’s ultreya, we will have part 2 of our homelesness ultreya. You will remember how our first part was led by a staff member from Ricochet, a homeless shelter. This Friday, we will go to Ricochet’s karaoke evening and spend some time with the people there. By singing with them and sharing time with them, we will show the love that God has for them.

Date: Friday, September 11th

Location: 9451 Boul. Gouin, Montreal (formerly Villa St. Martin, a Jesuit retreat house)

Have a peaceful evening,

🌍 "Be builders of bridges between peoples, cultures and religions."
Yesterday, Pope Leo XIV sent a video message to the young people of West Africa on the occasion of their first West African Youth Day, recalling one of the fundamental principles of walking together in a synodal Church.
👉"Walking together means ensuring that no one is marginalized, isolated, excluded or rejected," the Holy Father said. "We must commit ourselves to living as Jesus, our Master and Lord, lived, who excluded no one from his journey. He recognized the presence of God in those who lived on the margins of society, even in those who did not belong to his own people."
We join in prayer the young people of Africa as they celebrate their faith in Christ during these days. Let us continue to walk together, proclaiming the Gospel of the Lord. 🙏

🕯️ A time to remember, pray, and honour their memory.
.
Join us for this annual Mass, offered in loving memory of those in our city who died with no one to claim them.

Father Claude Paradis will celebrate this Mass, and we invite you to this time of reflection and prayer — remembering them with respect and compassion, entrusting their memory to the Lord, and bearing witness to the dignity of every person.

As founder of Notre-Dame-de-la-Rue, our diocesan ministry to Montreal's homeless community, Father Claude's vocation has long been rooted in walking with those our city can too easily overlook, making this Mass an extension of that same faithfulness.
