Did you know that our founder Fr. Edmund Wood established a prestigious boys’ school at our church? It later became Lower Canada College.

Join us Saturday 15 August for the feast of the Dormition [Assumption] of the Blessed Virgin Mary! Solemn Mass at 10h30 is followed by a cold potluck luncheon.

In celebrating this feast we are keeping up a tradition of the Church of St John the Divine in Verdun. The high mass on this day has been celebrated at the Red Roof since the parishes in Verdun united to form today's Church of the Epiphany, Verdun and Ville Emard.

In these 1898 maps, Saint John’s was located at the intersection of Ontario Street (now President Kennedy) and Church Street (now Kimberly).
Across the street was The Plateau Academy (a boys’ school founded in 1872) and The Nazareth Asylum (an institution for the blind established in 1861).
