The Texas Tavern of old Ville St. Laurent! Seems to have been located in the tangle of nothing a little south of Du College metro. Google Maps shows a little structure at 345 Decarie (second slide) and if our tavern was across the street, well there isn’t much there now.
I don’t have my old Montreal street guides with me so I can’t double check if I’m in the right ballpark. Anyway, another awesome but lost Montreal Tavern …. Texas Tavern!

The Historic and dearly missed Montreal institution Ben’s Delicatessen (1908 - 2006) back when de Maisonneuve blvd was named Burnside. From Wikipedia: “Founded by Benjamin Kravitz and his wife F***y in 1908, Bens Delicatessen (originally Bens) pioneered Montreal’s famous smoked meat scene. Operating for nearly a century, the legendary 1001 Burnside Street (now de Maisonneuve Boulevard) location was a Streamlined Modern cultural institution famous for its smoked meat, fries, and 23-hour daily hours.”

Lovely old matchbook from the 1950s ! Golden Star Restaurant and Soda Fountain in the very heart of Old Montreal. Today operates from that address.
