May is a busy month at St. Philip’s - there’s something special every Sunday in the month!

Sun, May 3 - our Patronal Festival, with hymns celebrating our patron, St. Philip.
Sun, May 10 - Rogation Sunday, with prayers & singing at our garden outside (weather permitting) at the end of the service. Also Mother’s Day!
Sun, May 17 - Ascension Sunday, celebrating Christ’s rising at Easter, forty days earlier.
Sun, May 24 - Pentecost (from the Greek “fifty”, being 50 days after Easter), commemorating the coming of the Holy Spirit
Sun, May 31 - Trinity Sunday, celebrating the Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

And don’t forget our Spring Fair on Saturday, May 23, 10am-2pm. Baking, used Books/DVDs/CDs, Housewares, and Plants!

It's the last Thursday of the month and that means ... the St. Philip’s Church Thrift Store is open today from noon-3pm! We have a variety of houseware items, kitchen utensils, used books, decorative accessories, and jewelry etc. so get out of the rain and come join us!

Notice is hereby given of two Special Vestry Meetings of the Parish of St. Philip, Montreal West, to take place on April 19th, 2026, at 11:15am, (immediately following the 10am Eucharist) in the Parish Hall.

Meeting One: To discuss & vote on the replacement of the oil furnace with an electric boiler.
(Short break)
Meeting Two: To continue discussions tabled from the February 22 Annual Vestry, regarding the search for our next Priest.

(Note: Voting on Vestry motions is open to those “of the full age of at least 16 years, and have been for at least six months prior to this meeting a communicant of the Anglican Church of Canada in the Diocese of Montreal within the congregation of St. Philip's, Montreal West, according to Canon XXVI, Article 1, of the Diocese of Montreal.”)

Please join us for our Holy Week & Easter Services!

Sun, Mar 29 @ 10am: Palm Sunday, with the distribution of Palm Crosses and procession, followed by the reading of the Passion Gospel.

Tue, Mar 31 @ 7:30pm: Tenebrae, the “Service of Darkness” (in-person only). A mediation on Jesus’ agony in the garden, arrest, trial, crucifixion and burial, with readings from the Lamentations and St. Augustine, and plainchant psalms.

Thu, Apr 2 @ 7pm: Maundy Thursday Service & Vigil (in-person only, and note the earlier than usual starting time!) After the Prelude, Introit Hymn & Gloria, the organ and bells are silent until Easter morning and all singing is a ca****la. Following the service, there will be a silent Vigil held in the Lady Chapel until midnight - please attend when and for as long as you are able.

Fri, Apr 3 @ noon: Our solemn Good Friday service with a ca****la choir, consisting of four parts: the Ministry of the Word, the Prayers of the People, the Adoration of the Cross, and the Holy Communion.

Sun, Apr 5 @ 10am: Easter Eucharist with organ & choir. Hallelujah, He is Risen!

The Palm Sunday, Good Friday & Easter services are viewable on Zoom. Call/email the church office or PM for details.

Notice is hereby given that the Annual Meeting of the Vestry of the Parish of St. Philip, Montreal West, will take place on Sunday, February 22nd, 2026 at 11am, (immediately following the 10am Morning Prayer) in the Parish Hall, to hear and receive Reports, approve the Budget for 2026, and handle such other business as may lawfully come before the meeting.
