Words of Gratitude from Father John Molina

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the people of the Diocese of Charlottetown.

Through your generosity, we have raised $26,219.85 to assist those affected by the earthquake in western Colombia.

These funds have already been sent to help cover basic needs such as food, transportation of relief supplies, and construction materials.

On my own behalf and on behalf of those who have suffered the consequences of this disaster, I offer my prayers of gratitude.

Discerning the Diaconate: Acolyte Installation

We are happy to share that Dave Riel, Director of Mission and Pastoral Services for the Diocese of Charlottetown, will be installed into the Ministry of Acolyte on September 6, 2026, during the 11:30 a.m. Mass at St. Genevieve Church, St. John of the Cross Parish, in the Eastern Shore area of Nova Scotia.

Dave is currently participating in the Diaconate Formation Program within the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth, where he has been discerning becoming a permanent deacon. As he continues his journey towards ordination as a permanent deacon, there have been stages to his formation. The last stage is to be installed as an acolyte. An acolyte is one who serves at the altar and assists the clergy in liturgical celebrations, especially in the celebration of Mass. He will continue to serve the Church as an acolyte with the hope of being ordained as a Permanent Deacon in the summer of 2027.

As Dave enters the Ministry of Acolyte within his diaconate formation, let us continue to pray for his deep reverence for the Holy Eucharist and a servant’s heart modelled after our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Diocese of Charlottetown is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Fisk as Retreat Manager of Our Lady of Hope Retreat Centre, effective September 7, 2026.

Andrew has been managing the day-to-day operations of Our Lady of Hope as a contractor since late May, and we are very pleased that he has agreed to continue in the role as a full-time member of the diocesan team.

Andrew brings extensive experience in food service, hospitality, catering, and restaurant management. His background also includes preparing and managing events and functions, along with food safety and customer service experience.

As Retreat Manager, Andrew will oversee the day-to-day operation and continued development of Our Lady of Hope, including retreat bookings, accommodations, meals, staffing and the overall guest experience.

We look forward to Andrew continuing his work at Our Lady of Hope and are pleased to welcome him officially to the Diocese of Charlottetown team.

A Recollection for Women will take place on Monday, September 14, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at St. Dunstan’s Basilica, Dorchester Street side entrance. Charlottetown.

Recollections are moments of peaceful prayer designed to refresh your spirit and help you find creative ways to live your faith in your family, social, and professional life. They are inspired by the teachings of St. Josemaría Escrivá (www.escrivaworks.org).

The Recollection will include Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, guided prayer led by Fr. Danny Wilson, a cooperator priest of the Prelature of Opus Dei, an opportunity for Confession, and a spiritual talk given by a lay person. For more information about Opus Dei, visit www.opusdei.ca.

Healing Mass planned by PEI Provincial Catholic Women's League:

Fr. Danny Wilson, CWL Provincial Spiritual Advisor, will offer prayers of healing for the sick at a Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Stratford, on Wednesday, September 9th at 9:00 am.
