For those who have been keeping up with our Sunday announcements, this is your reminder: we will be gathering with other Moncton Churches at the Coliseum for One Church on June 7. While each church serves its community in their own way, this event is an opportunity to join together in our unity under Jesus! You are invited to bring non-perishables for local food banks, and doors open at 9:00. More information can be found at https://www.weareonechurch.ca/

How do you respond when someone cuts you off in traffic? Do you let it go? Do you try to chase after them and get back at them? Do you dream about them getting pulled over for reckless driving? There are lots of ways that we can respond to others when they harm or upset us. In Jesus' teachings, he says that we ought to respond with love and kindness rather than trying to "get even," and to pray for our enemies with love. This week, Pastor Daniel examines this challenging teaching as we continue to look at the Sermon on the Mount. Click the link to listen now:

Have you ever chosen to go along with something even when it isn't be your preference? In God's graciousness, he regularly shows forgiveness for the moments when we fall short or make selfish decisions. As Jesus teaches his Sermon on the Mount, he describes how we ought to live with integrity and love for one another. Click the link to listen to the most recent message:

Have you ever done a good thing, but for the wrong reasons? Even when someone is trying to "be a good person," we often have selfish, ulterior motives to the "selfless" choices we make. Because of sinful hearts, Jesus teaches that behaviour modification is not enough to be "good." Instead, Jesus cuts to the heart of the issue and offers soul transformation through his work on the cross and the Holy Spirit. This week, Pastor Daniel continues our series on the Sermon on the Mount, where Jesus teaches that one's heart is just as important as one's actions. Click the link to listen now:

Have you ever kept something, even when you had no intentions of using it? Sometimes followers of Jesus treat the Old Testament like a dusty box that they keep stored in the basement without ever opening it up and taking a look at what is inside. Throughout Jesus' life, he demonstrates a deep understanding of, and love for, the Old Testament. This week, Pastor Daniel looks at how Jesus transitions from his introduction into his primary teaching in his Sermon on the Mount, talking about how God provides a way for humanity to learn how to live a good life in the Kingdom of Heaven. Our Baptist convention has hundreds of churches who share common beliefs and the goal of sharing the Gospel to our communities. What do you picture when you imagine a "happy" person? Perhaps a full pantry, a nice car, and surrounded by loving family? While that may be a beautiful image, Jesus teaches a different kind of happiness that is not dependent on what someone has. As Jesus begins his Sermon on the Mount, his opening statements challenge the expectations of his listeners. Click the link to listen to Pastor Daniel as he shares on the Beatitudes:

How would you describe yourself? If you asked ten different people to describe you, you probably would not have the same answers. This is because we all have different perspectives on the people around us. As we begin a new series on Jesus' "Sermon on the Mount," Pastor Daniel begins by introducing Matthew's perspective as he writes his Gospel account. Matthew sees Jesus as a great leader and teacher, acting like a new Moses-figure to teach the people how to live well and in relationship with God. We hope that you have been able to join us for our regular Gospel Music Jam nights at some point through the crisp Fall days, snowy Winter nights, and the hope of Spring. As Summer approaches, we will be starting our Summer Break early this year, pausing our music nights until the Fall. We will not be meeting on May 2 for a jam night, but we plan on starting back up in the Fall like usual. We hope to see you then!
