After a long weekend (we hope you enjoyed it!), you may have missed us on Sunday. As we continue to look at the story of how God draws us to refreshment, sometimes the story gets complicated; the "good guys" make poor decisions, and the "bad guys" are the people we sympathize with. This week, Pastor Daniel looks at one such moment, observing how God manages to work out his salvation even during messy situations. If you want to stay up to date, you can find our Sunday message here:

In our second week of a brand new teaching series, Pastor Daniel continues to look at how the Bible uses the image of water throughout the story. Sometimes, water can grow crops and offer life-giving refreshment, while other sources of water just leave you sick and more thirsty (have you ever tried drinking from the ocean?). This week, Pastor Daniel looks at a moment where the world falls into such chaos that it seems to end up back where it started before God creates order. Despite the chaos that ensues, God carves a path forward, offering another chance at life. Click the link to listen now:

While we still have some summer heat, do you know what it feels like to be drained from the sun and in need of refreshment? That kind of feeling can go beyond a tired body down to your spirit's weariness. Looking ahead to a new teaching series, Pastor Daniel began on Sunday by introducing the theme of life-giving water throughout Scripture. While we all search for refreshment, Jesus says that he offers waters of life that will satisfy. Click the link to listen to the first part of this new series:

Have you ever been caught ignoring someone as they spoke to you? Sometimes, you may hear someone without actually listening to them (and you can even listen to someone without following through and doing what they asked!). As Jesus concludes his Sermon on the Mount, he tells his listeners that they must choose whether or not they will respond to his message. Have you been struggling with loss? Do you have a friend needing support in their grief? This fall, we are launching GriefShare. GriefShare is a support group that offers a safe, welcoming place for people to journey together through the difficult emotions of grief. In this 13-week group, we will discuss what to expect in the days ahead and what’s “normal” in grief. Since there are no neat, orderly stages of grief, you’ll learn helpful ways of coping with grief, in all its unpredictability—and gain solid support each step of the way.

Each participant will receive a workbook, with a cost of $25, and pre-registration is required so that we can order ahead. Please email the office if you have any questions or want to register.

This past weekend was our Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada (CBAC) Oasis, where delegates from our church families gathered for business, fellowship, and collective worship. During our 3 rallies, we heard messages from our Executive Minister, Renee MacVicar, and Dr. Mark Jefferson. These powerful messages share the theme of making "Longer Tables" in a world that can leave us closed off. If you would like to listen to these messages, they can be found on the Oasis 2026 website here:

Oasis 2026 is an invitation for our CBAC family to imagine what it could look like to set longer tables – creating more space for people to experience the hope of Jesus – as communities of welcome, invitation, and shared life where hope gathers and grows. Have you ever gotten lost and needed to ask for directions? Sometimes it is difficult to know where to go, and not everyone provides helpful advice. This week, Pastor Daniel looks at Jesus when he warns his listeners that not every guide is helpful. Instead, Jesus advises his listeners to search for true goodness and follow the path to life. What has been your most-memorable gift? Maybe you gave a gift that you are especially proud of, or perhaps you've received a gift that you were amazed by. In either case, a good gift is often something that took intentionality, care, and love, ensuring that the recipient would use/enjoy it. In his Sermon on the Mount, Jesus describes how his heavenly Father loves to give good gifts to his children. Over the long weekend, Pastor Daniel took some time to dig into this and look at how Jesus reveals the great gifts from God. Click the link to listen now:
