The following is shared on behalf of the Church of God of Prophecy in Jamaica:
In moments of great loss, the true strength of the Body of Christ is revealed. Six months after the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa, the Church of God of Prophecy Jamaica continues to stand—resilient, united, and anchored in faith. The storm left a trail of destruction, damaging over 50 church buildings and disrupting the lives of approximately 2,000 members. Yet, even during such hardship, we held firmly to our confidence in God’s goodness and sustaining grace.
We did not walk this journey alone.
Your overwhelming support—through financial gifts, food supplies, essential items, and clothing—has been a vital part of our recovery and rebuilding efforts. As a result of your generosity, hope was restored in tangible ways across our communities.
As a national church, we express our deepest gratitude to our International Office, members of the Church of God of Prophecy diaspora worldwide, and our fellow churches across the Caribbean, North America, and England. We make special mention of our partners in Western and Eastern Canada and in England for their exceptional generosity, both in cash and in kind.
We also extend heartfelt thanks to our Harvest Partners and Helping Hand Ministries, whose timely intervention brought critical relief to families and congregations across the six parishes most severely affected.
While many of our church buildings are still being repaired, and some members continue rebuilding from the ground up, we are encouraged by the progress made. Through the coordinated efforts of our international and national leadership, along with initiatives such as the Church Assistance Programme (CAP) and the National Hurricane Melissa Relief Fund, we continue to respond to the evolving needs of our people.
Though we may not be able to acknowledge each donor individually, please know that every contribution has made a difference. Every act of kindness has strengthened our resolve and reminded us that we are part of a global family bound together in Christ.
Today, we remain steadfast in our mission—to reconcile lost souls to Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. Our churches continue to be places of refuge and restoration, offering spiritual encouragement, practical support, and renewed hope to our communities.
Through your support, we have been empowered to be the hands and feet of Christ —bringing light in dark times and hope in the aftermath of devastation.
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” – Galatians 6:2 (NLT)
