Join us this Sunday with Rev. Norm.

This Sunday’s Message and Theme: Where in my life am I seeing growth?

This Sunday we enter into a church season usually called Ordinary Time. The big festivals like Easter and Pentecost are over, and we enter into the ordinary routines of life. In our scripture reading today, Jesus is found looking at the ordinary life of the people around him and “At the sight of the crowds, Jesus’ heart was moved with pity because they were distressed and dejected (or harassed and helpless), like sheep without a shepherd”. He knew he had to do something, but he needed help to do it. So he sends out his disciples. He sends them out to proclaim that God has good will toward everyone, God loves everyone. He sends them out to bring peace and healing, to reduce the stress and bring them into the loving care of God. He also sends them out in such a way that they rely on the hospitality of those they encounter.

Through the grace of God’s spirit they have something to offer, through the gracious gift of hospitality they in receive a gift from those they encounter. Both parties are blessed through their interaction. He sends them out not because they have a special power, but because he knows that in the interaction. Jesus seeks to create communities of grace-filled mutual learners where the experience of love breeds love and generates the change that the world needs.

Scripture: Matthew 9:35 – 10:8

🌈 Pride is more than a celebration.

As we continue to mark Pride Month, we were moved by these words from Pam Rocker, Founder & Director of Affirming Connections:

“Pride is a celebration, a riot, an act of resistance, a chance to reflect on where we are now and how we get closer to the future we imagine. It’s also a practice.”

Pam invites all of us to take action:

✨ Faith communities – find one or two things to shift. A practice, a policy, a posture. Don’t wait for the “right” time.

✨ Individuals – explore a topic that challenges you and stay with it long enough to learn something new.

✨ Q***r folks – celebrate however and whenever you can. Rest when you need to. Your existence is enough.

✨ Allies – stand up for what matters, even when it’s difficult. Especially then.

“However you mark this month, you’re part of this community, and we’re glad you’re here.”

— Pam Rocker, Founder & Director, Affirming Connections

🌈 This Pride Month, may we continue the work of building communities where everyone is welcomed, valued, and celebrated

The session will also offer space for conversation, reflection, and identifying meaningful next steps in local contexts.
