AI & Agentic Coding — The Basics (Hands-On Workshop)
Curious about AI but not sure where to start? In one relaxed morning you’ll go from “what even is an LLM?” to building real, working things — just by chatting. No coding experience required.
This beginner-friendly, hands-on taster demystifies how today’s AI tools actually work and puts them straight into your hands. Using only a free Claude account, you’ll build a working calculator and a small simulation, then watch AI “agents” build whole projects on their own — a glimpse of where all of this is heading.
What you’ll do: understand what AI and large language models really are in plain English; learn to prompt well and build a working app just by chatting; build and tinker with Conway’s Game of Life, live; and see agentic coding tools in action, with free ways to keep exploring afterward.
Who it’s for: complete beginners with basic computer skills — project managers, business analysts, designers, and the simply curious. If you can use a web browser, you’re ready.
What to bring: a laptop with a current web browser and a Google or Gmail account. There will be a couple of short breaks — please bring your own snacks and a water bottle (a refill fountain is available); refreshments are not provided.
Your host: Kamal Syed — Head of Financial Services Delivery (Canada) at EPAM / First Derivative and founder of FableSoft, who writes and teaches on agentic AI and non-technical coding.
Spaces are limited — grab a seat and bring your curiosity.
