Water Outage in Downtown Milton

Hi Folks

Just a heads up that a water main broke in downtown Milton and that there is currently no water at Knox. It is currently being repaired, but apparently this will take a few hours.

As such, you should assume that there will be no water available for the service today, which also means that things like on-site washrooms will be out of order, there will be very limited drinking water and minimal hand washing facilities. (Though it's possible that this will be restored during the service)

We will still be holding the service in-person for those who wish to attend and participate. :)

Road Closures Sunday 19th July.

The town has advised that both Main St and Mary St will be closed between James St and Charles St from 11:30am to 4pm. (With James St and Charles St also closed) These closures are part of the annual pride parade that runs at 2pm on Main St.

That said, we clarified this with the town and were advised that although, the road is closed along Mary Street, Local access to businesses, Knox church, and surrounding municipal lots will still be maintained for local trips. The road closure is meant to discourage cut-through vehicular traffic along Mary Street and keep vehicles away from the area if not necessary.

As such, those who need to use Mary Street to access Knox, the municipal parking lots, or accessible parking lots on the church property on July 19th are able to do so.

Please note, it may become very busy with members of the event using Mary Street for alternative purposes, so members of the church who are attending on Sunday should be prepared for delays due to large pedestrian volumes. Halton Regional Police Services are also expected to be present at the event and have the authority to dictate traffic control if they see a need too.

Lots of things happening this Sunday, so let’s do a recap!

-Meat Pie fundraiser orders are due on May 10th (pick up is on May 23rd)

-Fundscrip orders are due on May 10th

- Dough and Devotions will take place on May 10th after Sunday worship (for youth and young adults)

- Final bids for the Silent Auction must be in by May 10th at 12pm

We are looking for 2x administrative assistants to work as part of the Knox team over the summer. There are two short term, full-time (35 hours per week for 8 weeks) positions running 1st June -> 25th July and 29th June -> 22nd August.
This position is subsidized through the Canada Summer Jobs program; it is open to young people aged between 15 and 30.
Some of the key responsibilities for this role include:
· Presence at the Milton Markets at Main Street Events through the summer
· Helping to administer and run VBS
· Helping to administer and run some low/no cost children’s programs over the summer.
· Other admin support around Knox over the summer
· Helping with referrals that come in through presence at the markets and others contacting the church over the summer.
