๐Ÿ’ตComforts and Luxuries ๐Ÿ’ต

โœ๐ŸผSheikh Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaimeen ุฑุญู…ู‡ ุงู„ู„ู‡ ุชุนุงู„ู‰ said:

"The more people increase in comfort and luxury and the more they open up before the people [with the Dunya], the more evils will open up before them. It is comfort and luxury that destroys a person. Because if a person was to concern himself with comfort and luxury and providing enjoyment to his body, he will become negligent of providing enjoyment to his heart, and his greatest worry will become providing enjoyment to this body that is doomed to become worms and rotten.

This is the ordeal, and this is what has harmed people today. You can hardly find anyone except that they say: "What is our palace? What is our car? What is our furniture? What is our food?" Even those who study [Islaamic] knowledge, some of them only study in order to gain rank or status to reach the blessings of the Dunya. As if man was not created for a significant purpose. The Dunya and its blessings are only a means, nothing more. We ask Allaah to make us and you use it as a means.

Ibn Taimiyyah ุฑุญู…ู‡ ุงู„ู„ู‡ ุชุนุงู„ู‰ said: "A person should use money as he uses a donkey to ride, and as he uses the toilet to relieve himself."

These are the ones who know money and its value. So do not make money your greatest worry, rather ride on money, for if you do not ride on it, it will ride on you, and your worry will become the Dunya.

For this, we say, that the more the Dunya opens up before the people, and they end up concerning themselves with it, they will lose as much of the Akhira as they have gained from the Dunya.

The Prophet ุตู„ู‰ ุงู„ู„ู‡ ุนู„ูŠู‡ ูˆ ุณู„ู… said: "By Allaah, I am not afraid of your poverty," meaning I am not afraid of poverty for you, for the Dunya will open up before you, "but I am afraid that you will lead a life of luxury as past nations did, whereupon you will compete with each other for it, as they competed for it, and it will destroy you as it destroyed them." [Bukhari & Muslim].

The Messenger ุตู„ู‰ ุงู„ู„ู‡ ุนู„ูŠู‡ ูˆ ุณู„ู… spoke the truth. This is what has destroyed the people today. What has destroyed the people today, is their competing with one another for the Dunya, and them being as if they were only created for it, and not it created for them. So they have preoccupied themselves with what was created for them over what they were created for. This is backwardness. We ask Allaah for protection."

What is Islam?

The Arabic word โ€œIslamโ€ literally means โ€œsubmission.โ€ Islam, as a faith, means total and sincere submission to God. Such submission to God brings peace and tranquility. The name โ€œIslamโ€ is universal in its meaning. Islam is not named after a tribe of people or after an individual, as Judaism is named after the Tribe of Judah, Christianity is named after Christ, and Buddhism is named after Buddha. Islam was not a name chosen by human beings; it was divinely communicated from God.

Islam is a complete way of life, implying a total submission to God. One who submits his or her will to God, voluntarily, is called a Muslim.
โ€œAllahโ€ is the proper Name in Arabic of the One True God Who Created the heavens and the earth. The name Allah comes from the root word: Aliha, which means the one worshipped with love and submission.

Muslims believe that God created this world and didnโ€™t leave us without a purpose, He sent Messengers to guide us. The first of them was Adam and the last was Muhammad (Peace be upon them all) and it was not Muhammad but Adam (Peace be upon them) who first brought Islam to humanity. Then, each Prophet and Messenger (Peace be upon them) came to exhort the people to clear understanding of Godโ€™s Commandment and offered teachings pertinent to that time, until finally the Prophet Muhammad came with the Last Testament (The Quran).

The concept of monotheism is the single most important concept in Islam. Monotheism is similar to the first of the Ten Commandments, and everything in Islam is built upon it. Islam calls humanity to worship the One and only true God. No act of worship or devotion has any meaning or value if this concept is in any way compromised. Due to its importance, the concept of monotheism must be properly understood. Everything that we know with regard to the Divine Unity of God must be cherished. Monotheism can be looked at from the following three perspectives:

1. The Oneness of God in His Lordship
2. The Devotion of All Worship to The One God Alone
3. The Uniqueness and Oneness of God in His Names and Attributes

Abdullah ibn Busr: When the Messenger of Allaah came to some peopleโ€™s door, he didnโ€™t face it squarely, but faced the right or left corner, and said: Aslaam Alaykum! Asalaam Alaykum!

That was because there were no curtains on the doors of the house at that time.

Shaikh Abdul-Muhsin al-โ€˜Abbad: This is from the beautiful manners and honorable characteristics!
That is: a person not facing the door (when desiring to enter anotherโ€™s house) because facing the door will make a person see inside the house.

However, if heโ€™s facing to the right or left, then heโ€™ll be far from his eye seeing what the owner of the house doesnโ€™t want that he sees or be shown.
