Knox Presbyterian Midland

Knox Presbyterian Midland Knox Presbyterian Church, Midland Ontario, Canada. So was Jesus. In fact, Jesus broke many of the rules of the religious people of His day. Not rules. Just Jesus.

Many sense that there is something more to life than our daily routines offer, but they're turned off by organized religion. He said that the rules of the religious were getting in the way of authentic faith. Some might say the same thing is happening today. At Knox, we're not about rules, or rituals. We're not an exclusive club for the holy. We're just folks struggling to find our way in a new li

fe with Jesus as our focus. Not ceremony. Not pretenses. And Jesus is all we need. We're a community of individuals with problems and issues and struggles. We're anything but pure and we admit it. Jesus knows who we are, what we think, how we act. So we just look to Him to help in our new life. It doesn't need to be complicated. Jesus made it sound simple. The religious types around him had hundreds of rules. He had two: 1) Love God. 2) Love one another. Sounds simple. But doesn't it really sum up everything we need to know and do? If we could learn to reach up (to God) and reach out (to one another), wouldn't life be full of meaning? Jesus was all about love. We try to be too. We have a soup kitchen that serves our community on Tuesday mornings. We provide space for the Out of the Cold program in winter months. We minister to children, youth, young families, and the elderly. We hope to do more. We want to do more. If you like what you are hearing we welcome you to join with us to worship, study, help others and hang out. Come by on Sunday mornings at 10:30 am. Dress is informal. Our worship is approachable and contemporary. No experience necessary. Free coffee. Friendships available. Laughter welcomed. Kid friendly. Nothing taken overly seriously - except the love of Jesus.

Good afternoon everyone!

SHOW Me What You Believe Matthew 25: 31-46

"An American politician, James Talarico, is quoted as saying; “Don’t tell me what you believe. Show me how you treat other people, and I’ll know what you believe.” Matthew 25 contains a parable where the Son of Man (Jesus) tell us that when we feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, invite in a stranger, clothe the unclothed, look after the sick, and visit the prisoner, what we are doing is being done for Jesus. Do you see Jesus in the needy? Some of the needy are children. Some are in Africa.

Life4Kids Canada is a local organization that supports 32 little boys who were hungry, thirsty, strangers, unclothed, sick and imprisoned by poverty and neglect. Life4Kids Canada is locally based and largely financially supported by people in the Midland and Penetanguishene area.

The Director of the Kenyan organization says she is “raising the future leaders of Africa.” When one visits the home, one sees healthy, energetic boys. Are these just ordinary boys? Maybe ordinary in Canada. But In Nairobi Kenya, “ordinary” is 200,000 homeless and abandoned boys on the streets. ”Ordinary” is 60 to 70% of the population living in slums. Whatever you do for one of the least of these brothers and sister of Jesus, you do for Jesus."

Pastor Nick provided this summary: I in Them and You in Me - John 17:1-26

This grand prayer of Jesus teaches us about glory, knowing the Father, our relationship to the world, and our oneness. Glory in the Old Testament means that something has weight – has gravitas. The glory Jesus prayed for is not self-glorification. Jesus left himself subject to the Father’s to be restored back to full rights of the glory he set aside for us. What Jesus did was seek the Father’s glory. Jesus even goes so far as to say that to know the Son is to know the Father. Jesus, God incarnate, makes the Infinite One knowable and personable. Because we belong to Jesus, we are not of the world. We are in the world, but not of the world. Lastly, Jesus prays to the Father that we’d be one just as he and the Father are one. We may not always look like one, but we are one by belonging to Christ together.
