Knox Presbyterian Midland Knox Presbyterian Church, Midland Ontario, Canada. So was Jesus. In fact, Jesus broke many of the rules of the religious people of His day. Not rules. Just Jesus.

Many sense that there is something more to life than our daily routines offer, but they're turned off by organized religion. He said that the rules of the religious were getting in the way of authentic faith. Some might say the same thing is happening today. At Knox, we're not about rules, or rituals. We're not an exclusive club for the holy. We're just folks struggling to find our way in a new life with Jesus as our focus. Not ceremony. Not pretenses. And Jesus is all we need. We're a community of individuals with problems and issues and struggles. We're anything but pure and we admit it. Jesus knows who we are, what we think, how we act. So we just look to Him to help in our new life. It doesn't need to be complicated. Jesus made it sound simple. The religious types around him had hundreds of rules. He had two: 1) Love God. 2) Love one another. Sounds simple. But doesn't it really sum up everything we need to know and do? If we could learn to reach up (to God) and reach out (to one another), wouldn't life be full of meaning? Jesus was all about love. We try to be too. We have a soup kitchen that serves our community on Tuesday mornings. We provide space for the Out of the Cold program in winter months. We minister to children, youth, young families, and the elderly. We hope to do more. We want to do more. If you like what you are hearing we welcome you to join with us to worship, study, help others and hang out. Come by on Sunday mornings at 10:30 am. Dress is informal. Our worship is approachable and contemporary. No experience necessary. Free coffee. Friendships available. Laughter welcomed. Kid friendly. Nothing taken overly seriously - except the love of Jesus.

Knox Church was honoured to host four public events to welcome Jane Wasike, Executive Director of Life4Kids in Kenya.

The Board of Life4Kids Canada has expressed gratitude to Knox for warm hospitality and generous support.

Jane Wasike has expressed her heartfelt thanks: "Thanks for opening your hearts, making time for me, and welcoming me as part of your lives. One of the greatest gifts of this visit has been the opportunity to look into your eyes and say thank you not merely on behalf of an organization, but on behalf of the children whose lives are being touched by your generosity."

Jane spent two weeks in Canada and touched the lives of more than 300 people.

REMINDER:
We will be hosting a Gift of Grace Thanksgiving Food Drive this October to try and re-stock our soup kitchen pantry with items they can hand out to the clients.

Included below is a list of items we're looking for, and if you'd like to donate to the Food Drive, donation boxes are located in the Sanctuary of Knox church.

Donations of pantry items will be accepted from October 4th until October 25 at Knox, on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 10am and 2pm.

Not Merely Words
1 Thessalonians 1:1-10

The good news is not a matter of empty words. These are words that bring life. The good news made the people of Thessalonica come alive. Jesus' life, death, and resurrection changed these folks so much that they became examples to all the churches in the surrounding area. They went from hearing for the first time to coming alive in Jesus. You're invited to hear the same transforming message of Jesus and to come alive.

Whether you're hearing the good news about Jesus for the thousandth time or the first time, you're welcome here.

REMINDER:
Good morning, everyone!

Jane Nanzala Wasike, Director of the Life4Kids Children's Home for homeless and abandoned boys in Nairobi, Kenya will be making her first ever trip to Canada this month, and she'll be making two stops at Knox Midland!

Just a reminder for all those that didn't get a chance to hear Jane speak on Sunday, that Jane will be back THIS WEDNESDAY at 2:00pm, for an open reception.
