Hello Church family!

We recently received a phone call from Operation Christmas Child, sharing their gratitude for the support our community continues to show this ministry. What a joy to be part of something that reaches children all over the world—even in hard-to-reach places—with the hope of the Gospel!

This ministry isn’t just supported by Melville Baptist Church, but by churches and community members all around us. It’s a beautiful picture of what can happen when people come together with a shared purpose. As many of you know, our church also serves as a drop-off location each year for these shoeboxes.

A very special thank you goes out to our brother Trevor, who faithfully serves as the ministry's local "coordinator." Trevor puts in countless volunteer hours—ordering boxes, organizing information across the community, and coordinating pick-ups to ensure everything gets where it needs to go. His quiet dedication makes a huge impact!

Samaritan’s Purse shared their hope that we will continue walking alongside them in this ministry—blessing children across the world and helping carry the Good News of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth, just as we are called to do in Acts 1:8.

If you’d like to see the official Samaritans Purse report from this past year’s shoebox mission, check it out here: https://www.samaritanspurse.ca/occ-special-report/

Thank you to everyone who plays a part in supporting this incredible ministry—and Trevor, thank you for serving so faithfully. May you feel the rich blessings of God as you continue to bless others faithfully!

Hello everyone,

First, I just want to say how wonderful it is that so many people are willing to help clean up after the Soup & Bun lunches. It is truly appreciated!

I did want to make a small request regarding the chairs downstairs. Often they are stacked about six high, which causes them to take up a much larger footprint in the room. When the chairs are stacked higher (I stacked them about 12 high), they take up significantly less space. This helps us maximize the downstairs area for ministry activities during the week.

I’ve included a before-and-after picture for reference.

Thank you again to everyone who helps out — it really makes a difference!

🎂 Youth Cake Baking Night – This Friday! 🎂

Hey Melville Baptist Church family!

This Friday our Grade 7–12 youth are hosting our annual Cake Baking Night in preparation for Sunday’s Youth Cake Fundraiser!

Youth — you’re welcome to come early at 6:00 PM to start working on cake ideas or prep while the worship team practices. Youth group officially starts at 7:00 PM, and we’ll jump straight into baking (because every second counts when decorating masterpieces!). Once the cakes are in the oven, we’ll gather for devotional and worship time together.

Church family — come Sunday ready to be wowed! We’ll be hosting a silent auction that will close shortly after the service. If you see a cake you love, you can take it home!

Valentine’s Day may have just passed, but what better way to celebrate the love of your life than by sharing a cake made by your favorite youth group? ❤️

This night is always a blast, and we can’t wait to see what the youth create this year!

See you Friday, youth — and Sunday, church family!

Hey Melville Baptist Church and friends!

I’m excited to share some good news. I was asked to write a short article for youth workers across the NAB, and it’s finally up! In it, I talk about how youth workers can remember they’re not alone—even when things get tough.

Check it out here: https://nabconference.org/2025/08/youth-workers-you-are-not-alone/

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Sometimes the challenges make it hard to see clearly. But God provides what we need for his service when we place our trust in him.

If you ever feel like you missed something, Pastor Jesse Darby always uses Logos Sermons as a resource to write his sermons, which means you can read his notes directly on their site!

Here is his message from this Sunday:

As you just heard Pastor Jon recite—rather impressively—the entirety of Mark 1:14-3:6 , you already know we’re covering a large portion of Scripture today. At first, that might feel daunting. But when we step back and allow the words of Scripture to rise off the page, a clear theme emerges. Wh...

If you’ve ever wondered what the SBA (Saskatchewan Baptist Association) is and how Melville Baptist Church fits into it, here’s a simple explanation:

The SBA is a network of Baptist churches across Saskatchewan who share a common statement of faith under our broader parent denomination—the NAB (North American Baptist Conference).

To help churches stay informed about the work being done in our province, our Regional Minister, Pastor Mike, has begun releasing monthly newsletters. If you’d like to learn more or stay connected, you can subscribe and read the latest update at the link below:

SBA Monthly Newsletter:

Each SBA church is asked to send two delegates to represent their local church at the council. Please talk to your pastor and/or church leadership for more information.
