✨ Called to Be a Blessing ✨

The story of Abram begins with a call:

“Go.”

Leave the familiar. Leave what is comfortable. Step into the unknown and trust that God is already there.

God never calls us to something without first calling us away from something.

For Abram, that call came with three promises:
🏡 A home and a place to belong.
🌱 Descendants who would become a great nation.
💛 A purpose — to be a blessing to all peoples of the earth.

What makes Abram remarkable is not his strength, power, or qualifications. It is his faith. Abram trusted God’s promise and took the next step, even when he could not see the destination.

Faith is not passive. Faith moves. Faith responds. Faith acts.

Paul reminds us that Abraham became righteous not through law, status, or achievement, but through trust in God. Through faith, all people are welcomed into God’s family.

And that means Abram’s calling is also our calling.

A blessing is anything that reflects God’s steadfast love and presence. We are called to be channels of that blessing in the world — extending mercy, compassion, acceptance, and hope wherever we go.

Jesus embodied this perfectly.

Again and again, he sought out those others ignored. He healed, restored, welcomed, and reminded the world that God’s love does not discriminate or exclude.

“I desire mercy, not sacrifice.”

Those words still challenge us today.

As followers of Christ, we are called to put faith into action:
🌿 Healing fractured relationships.
🌿 Restoring community.
🌿 Offering acceptance where there is rejection.
🌿 Sharing mercy where there is judgment.

The blessing God gives is never meant to stop with us. It flows through us.

May we answer God’s call, wherever it leads.
May we trust the promise.
And may we become a blessing to others, just as Abram was called to be.

✨ Created for Relationship, Called to Reconciliation ✨

In the beginning, Scripture tells us that creation emerged from chaos. The world was formless, empty, and void. Yet God spoke life into that chaos, bringing order, purpose, and possibility.

The creation story is not simply about how the world began. It is about relationship.

💛 Relationship between God and humanity.
💛 Relationship with one another.
💛 Relationship with all of creation.

Humanity is created in the image of God, called to reflect God’s love, grace, and care in the world. We are entrusted with the sacred task of nurturing creation and helping life flourish in God’s shalom — a peace rooted in wholeness, justice, belonging, and reconciliation.

Yet chaos is never far away.

Chaos grows when we forget the divine image in ourselves and others. It grows when fear overcomes love, when prejudice replaces compassion, and when faith is used to exclude rather than embrace.

As Rev. Jon reminded us, when we condemn others and justify judgment rather than viewing Scripture through the lens of Christ’s radical love, we cease to be agents of God and become agents of chaos.

Jesus offers another way.

“Love one another. Just as I have loved you.”

To follow Christ is to become a builder of community, a nurturer of peace, and an agent of reconciliation. We are called to create spaces where all people know they are beloved children of God.

🌿 In a divided world, God’s invitation remains the same: choose love over fear, acceptance over exclusion, and reconciliation over division.

May we reflect the image of God with our words, our actions, and our lives.
