STATIONS OF THE CROSS & HOLY ROSARY

Stations:
From the earliest times, Christians flocked to the Holy Land to visit the places sanctified by the events in our Lord's earthly life. Especially popular was the pilgrimage along the path our Lord took on the first Good Friday. This pilgrimage was made with great devotion, the procession stopping (or making “stations”) for prayer and meditation at the various traditional points where special events took place.
For those who were unable to visit the Holy Land, the custom arose throughout Europe of setting up replicas of the different incidents along the Way of Sorrows, so that the faithful could make spiritual pilgrimages. After a long development, these little shrines became restricted to fourteen in number and it is now customary to set them up along the walls of Christian churches.
It is customary in Lent, and at other times, for this devotion to be used, whether in private or in public. It is only necessary that there be a movement from one Station to another and that the people meditate, however briefly, on each particular incident. Many unofficial devotions have been written, however. The one that we will be using at Holy Trinity this Lenten season are those arranged by Saint Alphonsus and translated by the late Father Stanton of Saint Alban's, Holborn.

Rosary:
As part of our Lenten preparation to observe the Passion, Trial, and Crucifixion (death) of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, the parish will be saying the holy Rosary during the Lenten season. This is a time of prayer and listening to, and meditating upon, holy Scripture from the gospels which walks us through the end of Jesus Christ's life before his glorious and bodily resurrection on Easter Day.
Commonly call “The Sorrowful Mysteries” we will hear about:
-The Agony of Christ in the Garden (Luke 22:39-47);
-The Scourging at the Pillar (Mark 15:7-10);
-The Crown of Thorns (Matthew 27:27-31; John 19:2-6);
-The Carrying of the Cross (John 19:14-17; Luke 23:24-33);
-The Crucifixion (Luke 23:33-50; John 19:17-37).
For those that may not have a rosary, they are available on the information table just inside the church and you are more than welcome to keep them.
Join us every Saturday during Lent (February 7 – March 28) at 12:00 pm (Noon) for these meditations and devotional "walking in Christ's footsteps" in His last hours. We will be alternating between the Stations of the Cross and the holy Rosary each week.

The “Pastor's Hour” is a time where anyone can come and speak with the priest about anything that they would like, without an appointment. It is open to everyone in the community, not just members of the congregation. Feel free to stop by and say "Hi" and to stay for awhile and enjoy a hot or cold drink and spend some time in conversation with Cn. Glenn about whatever is on your heart or mind. Cn. Glenn's study is downstairs in the Northeast corner of the church hall. If the door happens to be closed, please feel free to make yourself a beverage in the kitchen and you may peruse the church library while you wait for him.
