**The Tree Doesn't Panic in the Fall | Elder Ken Sullivan**

What do you do when life changes, prayers go unanswered, relationships shift, or you find yourself walking through a season you never expected?

In this message, Bridge Church Elder Ken Sullivan shares an encouraging reminder from Jeremiah 17:5–8: a tree planted by the water doesn't avoid drought, but its roots remain connected to the source that sustains it.

Our lives move through different seasons. Some bring joy and growth, while others bring grief, uncertainty, and loss. But a changing season doesn't mean God has abandoned us. Even when we can't see what He's doing, He is still at work.

Through Scripture and personal stories, Ken reminds us that our hope isn't found in getting everything back the way it was. Our hope is found in Jesus, who entered our suffering, died, and rose again.

**“Losing leaves is not the same as losing life. And the changing season is not the same thing as an absent God.”**

If you're walking through a difficult season, this message is an invitation to grieve what needs to be grieved, release what needs to be released, and remain rooted in Christ.

What are the “high places” in your life?

In this teaching, Elder Keith Donahue challenges us to look honestly at the things that can quietly take our focus away from God. Drawing from the stories of the kings of Israel, Keith explores how high places became places of convenience, distraction, and misplaced worship, and asks us to consider what high places may exist in our own lives.

Keith also challenges us to slow down, wait on the Lord, and learn what it means to “be still and know” that He is God. Rather than simply knowing about God, we are invited into a deeper relationship where we experience His presence, surrender our striving, and trust His character and timing.

The challenge is simple but significant: make space this week to be still with God, and ask the Holy Spirit, “Are there any high places in my life that need to be torn down?”

Sometimes life just feels grey.

There isn't necessarily one thing that happened. There isn't one obvious reason. You just wake up with a heaviness and start asking questions.

"Am I failing?"
"What am I doing with my life?"
"Where is all of this going?"
"What is God actually building?"

Pastor Randal Friesen shares honestly about experiencing those kinds of grey days and asks what it looks like to know God and bear His image when life hurts.

Through Psalm 42, we see that lament isn't a lack of faith. Lament is sorrow that still knows where to go. We can tell God, "I don't understand. This hurts. I'm tired. I'm scared," while still turning toward Him.

Then we look at Jesus in Gethsemane.

Jesus knew the Father perfectly. He trusted the Father perfectly. And yet He said, "My soul is very sorrowful, even to death."

Jesus was deeply sorrowful and deeply surrendered.

That means our sorrow isn't proof that we've failed God.

The story of Job takes this even further. Job desperately wants God to explain why he's suffering. But when God finally speaks, He doesn't give Job the explanation he wanted. Instead, God reveals Himself.

Job wanted an explanation.

What he received was an encounter.

And perhaps that's something we need to remember in our own grey days.

We don't always get to know what God is doing. But we can know who God is.

Following Jesus isn't about having the whole map. It's about knowing who you're following.

And sometimes faith isn't looking forward and saying, "I know what God is going to do."

Sometimes faith is looking backward and saying:

"Look at what the Lord has done."

Look at His faithfulness.
Look at His provision.
Look at His mercy.
Look at the people He's placed around you.
Look at the ways He's already carried you.
Look at Jesus.

Because you don't have to understand what God is doing to know who God is.

And because you know Him, you can keep walking.

And because you've been loved by Him, you can keep loving.

Even here.
