This evening Bishop Poitras hosted the area priests for an Advent gathering at his residence. It was a time of prayer, fellowship, and food. A wonderful opportunity to gather as brother priests.

DIOCESAN MASS FOR DEPARTED CLERGY:
Bishop Poitras will celebrate a special Mass on Thursday, November 6th at 7:00 P.M. at St. Anthony’s Cathedral. This Mass will be offered for the deceased bishops, priests, and deacons of the Diocese. All are invited to come and pray for these faithful servants of the Lord who dedicated their lives to the service of the Gospel.

PASTA SUPPER:
St. Dominique’s Parish will be hosting a pasta supper on Sunday, October 19th at 5:30 P.M. Tickets are $20.00 for adults and $9.00 for children. For tickets contact 705-264-0948. Tickets will not be sold at the door. All are welcome!

This fall the Diocese of London is educating parishioners about some key points about the celebration of Mass. Last week they highlighted the importance of sacred silence in the Mass. Their highlights are equally important for us and you will find a copy attached. It is a good opportunity to remind us of sacred silence as we participate in Mass.

UPDATE ON BISHOP POITRAS:
On August 15th Bishop Poitras, while on summer holidays, suffered a heart attack, was admitted to the Ottawa Heart Institute, and had three splents placed. He is slowly recovering and has now returned to Timmins. He will be off, on orders of the doctor, for at least the next month. As such, the September 8th Marian Mass and September 14th Cemetery Prayer Service are cancelled this year. Please continue to keep Bishop Poitras in your prayers.

Veuillez garder l'évêque Poitras dans vos prières. Hier matin, alors qu'il était en vacances à Ottawa, il a ressenti des douleurs à la poitrine et a consulté un médecin. Il a subi une légère crise cardiaque et a été opéré à l'Institut de cardiologie d'Ottawa pour y insérer trois endoprothèses. Il s'y repose confortablement et était de bonne humeur lorsque le père John s'est entretenu avec lui hier soir. Il y restera pour quelques jours d'observation et de repos.

Please keep Bishop Poitras in your prayers. Yesterday morning he was experiencing chest pain, while on vacation in Ottawa, and sought medical attention. He suffered a mild heart attack and underwent surgery to have 3 stents inserted at the Ottawa Heart Institute. He is resting comfortably there and in good spirits when Fr. John spoke with him last night. He will remain there for a few days of observation and rest.
