Hi, parents. Stay safe and warm this weekend.
You may have to stay home tomorrow because of the snowstorm.
In that case, it will be a good time to show your children that you, as a family, love God and are serious about worshipping Him. Please start to decide how you will lead your children to worship tomorrow at home. Below are my suggestions:
1. Tell them your plan tonight, invite them to plan something, ask them to pick a song, etc.
2. Start your family worship 45 minutes before the online service of your own church
3. Sing the songs they picked
4. Show them some Bible story video, e.g.
a. Kindergarteners https://youtu.be/lSJvRqzj4WA
b. Gr. 1-6 https://youtu.be/KVKouBUJSuc
If you have kids in both age group, play both of them, they like videosš¤£
5. Give them a message of yours
6. Bless them with a Bible verse below (pick one or use one that inspired you most as a parent)
a. Numbers 6:24-26 - "The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace."
b. Ephesians 3:16-19 - "That according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faithāthat you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God."
c. 1 Corinthians 1:4-9 - "I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus, that in every way you were enriched in him in all speech and all knowledgeāeven as the testimony about Christ was confirmed among youāso that you are not lacking in any gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ."
d. Colossians 1:9-14 - "And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light."
How to Use These Verses: (This is like the benediction from the pastor at the end of a service - you have the authority from God to bless your children.)
- Personalize the verses: Replace the pronouns with your child's name to make the blessing more personal.
- Speak the verses aloud: Speak the verses aloud over your child, with conviction and faith.
- Use them in prayer: Incorporate these verses into your prayers for your child, asking God to fulfill the promises and blessings contained within.
- Write them down: Write the verses down in a journal or on a card, and give them to your child as a reminder of your love and blessing.
7. End the worship with a prayer. I suggest holding hands in a circle.
8. Let them rest and you prepare your heart for your own adult service.
9. They will observe you during your serviceāŗļøš¤£.
