Noble Friends of Toronto

Noble Friends of Toronto Oh, happily do we live, without hate amongst the hateful. Amongst hateful people, we dwell unhating.

SEEK the truth in a world of conceit; LEAD a righteous life in a world of immorality; SPREAD loving kindness in a world of hatred; FIND wisdom in a world of delusion. (Gautama Supreme Buddha - Dhammapada - Sukha Vagga -197)

In search of a righteous way of living, happiness and tranquility in life and after much effort in research, experiments and unsuccessful attempts; wise individuals realized t

hat it is only the Supreme Buddha who preached the righteous way of living. It is a well known fact that the Supreme Buddha's doctrine is above and beyond the modern Science and Technology. It has brought success and TRUE happiness to all beings over thousands of years. We are the youth wing of Mahamevnawa Buddhist Monastery Toronto which was started by Most Venerable Bhikkhu Kiribathgoda Gnanananda. As sons and daughters of the Supreme Buddha we try to take that Incomparable Teacher's word of wisdom across the community; especially amongst the younger generation. We would like to invite all of our friends to "Come & See" the Dhamma preached by the Supreme Buddha as it unequivocally will change and shed light into your lives!

"Monks, there are these five aspects of speech by which others may address you:

Timely or untimely,
True or false,
Affectionate or harsh,
Beneficial or unbeneficial,
With a mind of good-will or with inner hate. Others may address you in a timely way or an untimely way.
They may address you with what is true or what is false.
They may address you in an affectionate way or a harsh way.
They may address you in a beneficial way or an unbeneficial way.
They may address you with a mind of good-will or with inner hate.

In any event, you should train yourselves:
'Our minds will be unaffected and we will say no evil words.
We will remain sympathetic to that person's welfare,
With a mind of good will,
And with no inner hate.
We will keep pervading him with an awareness imbued with good will and,
Beginning with him,
We will keep pervading the all-encompassing world with an awareness imbued with good will — abundant, expansive, immeasurable, free from hostility, free from ill will.'

That's how you should train yourselves.

Fountain of Wisdom

Inconstant, stressful and not-self

"What do you think, monks — Is “form” constant or inconstant?"
"Inconstant, lord."
"And is that which is inconstant easeful or stressful?"
"Stressful, lord."
"And is it fitting to regard what is inconstant, stressful, subject to change as: 'This is mine. This is my self. This is what I am'?"
