πŸ“– ONLY GOD CAN GIVE EVERLASTING LIFE

Text: Romans 6:23; 1 Timothy 1:15-16; Ephesians 2:8-9

🎯 INTRODUCTION

The image reminds us of an important truth:
A doctor may save your physical life.
A lawyer may defend your legal life.
A soldier may protect your national life.
But only God can give everlasting life.

From a Dispensational perspective, eternal life today is not obtained by works, religion, law-keeping, water baptism, or church membership. It is received by faith alone in the finished work of Christ revealed through the Apostle Paul (1 Cor. 15:1-4).
The greatest need of mankind is not physical healing, legal protection, or military securityβ€”it is spiritual salvation.

1️⃣ GOD'S PROVISION IS A SAVING PROVISION
πŸ“– Romans 6:23
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Before God can give eternal life, He must first deal with man's greatest problemβ€”sin.

A. Sin Brings Condemnation
πŸ“– Romans 3:23
All men are guilty before God.
B. Sin Produces Corruption
πŸ“– Romans 5:12
Death entered through Adam's fall.
C. Sin Results in Separation
πŸ“– Isaiah 59:2
Sin separates man from God.
D. Sin Requires Compensation
πŸ“– Romans 6:23
The wages of sin must be paid.
E. Sin Finds Its Cure in Christ
πŸ“– 2 Corinthians 5:21
Christ became sin for us.
✨ Dispensational Insight
The cross was God's complete answer to mankind's sin problem. Christ paid the full penalty once and for all.
πŸ“– Colossians 2:13-14

2️⃣ GOD'S PAYMENT IS A SUFFICIENT PAYMENT
πŸ“– 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
"Christ died for our sins... was buried... and rose again the third day."
The gospel is not what we do for God but what Christ has done for us.

A. Atoning Death
πŸ“– Romans 5:8
Christ died in our place.
B. Accomplished Burial
πŸ“– 1 Corinthians 15:4
His burial proved His death.
C. Authentic Resurrection
πŸ“– 1 Corinthians 15:4
His resurrection proved victory.
D. Absolute Satisfaction
πŸ“– Romans 3:25
God's justice was satisfied.
E. Available Salvation
πŸ“– Acts 13:38-39
Forgiveness is offered freely.
✨ Dispensational Insight
Paul's gospel reveals the finished work of Christ as the sole basis of salvation today.
πŸ“– Galatians 1:11-12

3️⃣ GOD'S PROMISE IS A SECURE PROMISE
πŸ“– Ephesians 1:13
"After that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise."
The moment a sinner trusts Christ, God secures him eternally.

A. Believed by Faith
πŸ“– Ephesians 2:8-9
Salvation is by grace through faith.
B. Baptized by the Spirit
πŸ“– 1 Corinthians 12:13
Placed into the Body of Christ.
C. Blessed with Forgiveness
πŸ“– Colossians 2:13
All trespasses forgiven.
D. Bound by God's Seal
πŸ“– Ephesians 4:30
Sealed until redemption.
E. Belonging to Christ
πŸ“– Romans 8:38-39
Nothing can separate us.
✨ DDispensational Insight
The believer's security rests in Christ's performance, not our performance.
πŸ“– Philippians 1:6

4️⃣ GOD'S PURPOSE IS A SPIRITUAL PURPOSE
πŸ“– Titus 2:11-13
God saves us not merely to take us to heaven but to transform our walk.

A. To Display Grace
πŸ“– Ephesians 2:7
We are trophies of grace.
B. To Demonstrate Godliness
πŸ“– Titus 2:12
Grace teaches holy living.
C. To Declare the Gospel
πŸ“– 2 Corinthians 5:20
We are ambassadors for Christ.
D. To Defend the Truth
πŸ“– 2 Timothy 2:15
Rightly dividing the Word.
E. To Desire His Appearing
πŸ“– Titus 2:13
Looking for the Blessed Hope.
✨ Dispensational Insight
The Body of Christ is called to proclaim the Mystery Gospel until the Rapture.
πŸ“– Romans 16:25

πŸ“’ CALL TO ACTION

What Should You Do Today?
1. Recognize Your Sinfulness
πŸ“– Romans 3:23
Acknowledge your need of a Savior.
2. Rely on Christ Alone
πŸ“– Ephesians 2:8-9
Stop trusting religion or works.
3. Receive the Gospel
πŸ“– 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
Believe Christ died, was buried, and rose again.
4. Rest in God's Grace
πŸ“– Romans 5:1
Enjoy peace with God.
5. Reach Others with the Gospel
πŸ“– 2 Timothy 4:2
Tell others about Christ.

🏁 CONCLUSION

A doctor may prolong life.
A lawyer may protect rights.
A soldier may preserve freedom.
But none of them can remove sin, conquer death, or grant eternal life.
Only Jesus Christ accomplished that through His death, burial, and resurrection.

The greatest question is not:
❓ "How healthy am I?" ❓ "How wealthy am I?" ❓ "How protected am I?"

The greatest question is:
βœ… "Have I trusted Christ alone for my salvation?"
πŸ“– John 5:24 "He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life..."

πŸ’ FINAL THOUGHTS

1️⃣ Physical life is temporary, but eternal life is forever.
πŸ“– 2 Corinthians 4:18
2️⃣ Religion cannot save, but Christ can save.
πŸ“– Titus 3:5
3️⃣ Good works cannot purchase heaven, but grace provides it.
πŸ“– Ephesians 2:8-9
4️⃣ The finished work of Christ is sufficient for all who believe.
πŸ“– 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
5️⃣ Today is the day to trust Christ as your Savior.
πŸ“– 2 Corinthians 6:2

πŸ™ AMEN!
"For the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." πŸ“– Romans 6:23 KJV

A powerful magnitude 7.8 earthquake has struck off the southern Philippine island of Mindanao, causing serious damage in General Santos, Sarangani and surrounding areas.

Reports say buildings have collapsed, people have been killed and injured, and many communities are facing fear, disruption and uncertainty as aftershocks continue. Tsunami warnings were issued across parts of the region and later lifted, while emergency teams continue to assess the damage and support those affected.

πŸ™We pray for the people of the Philippines, especially all those affected in Mindanao.

πŸ™ We hold before God those who have died, those who are injured, those who are missing and all who are grieving.

πŸ™ We pray for people whose homes, schools, churches, businesses and communities have been damaged, and for all who remain anxious as aftershocks continue.

πŸ™ We give thanks for emergency responders, medical teams, local authorities, churches and community organisations offering help, shelter and care.

πŸ™ We pray for The Episcopal Church in the Philippines and their ministry to communities at this difficult time.

God of mercy,
draw near to all who are afraid, grieving or in need.
Strengthen those who are responding with courage and compassion.
Protect those in danger,
comfort those who mourn
and guide all who work to bring relief, healing and hope.

Amen.

It would be wonderful if those who are coming to the 4:00 PM service this coming Sunday to hear St. George's Cathedral choir also brought an item for the Food Bank. To see the basket at the back of the church full to overflowing would be fantastic !

Faith was never meant to be something we simply know. It was meant to be something we live. The world doesn't need more people who can quote truth. It needs more people who will practice kindness when it's inconvenient. Offer grace when it's undeserved. Show compassion when no one is watching. Love their neighbor in practical ways. πŸ™

Sometimes the most powerful sermon is not spoken from a stage. It's lived out on an ordinary Tuesday. One act of generosity. One moment of compassion. One person choosing to care. That's where faith becomes visible. If you're looking for gentle encouragement throughout the week, we'd love to welcome you into our community.
