September 2022 Newsletter
Hello to SEPTEMBER and another short message from St Norberts for your perusal! We have been so happy greeting more and more parishioners and travellers each Sunday in August and anticipate we will be seeing similar in the future. Have you sensed the different heartbeat before, during and after mass? Wanted to mention it here because it has been noted! We have a challenging year ahead and let us be there to share the blessings of a church that is so well led each Sunday.
What a nice experience! – One Sunday, we welcomed on the altar five clergy, no less - regular, visiting and guests. They concelebrated the mass for that Sunday so hope we didn’t shortchange other altars, eh? We will be meeting the new priest from Liverpool, Fr Joseph Thomas this Sunday as Fr Keith does exchange visits to the southern parishes for a few weeks. Come - as we welcome Fr Joseph.
St Norberts has been open for tourists and visitors five mornings a week for a good while this summer due to the faithful volunteers who welcome them. Thank you ‘greeters’. We are not in the downtown areas but those who come are grateful for the experience of viewing and sensing the beauty of our beloved church. If you can afford a few hours please consider this contribution for next spring and summer - It is so interesting.
An interesting note from a parishioner following the last newsletter: “I did read the plaque about St Norbert but we had a guest from Holland who chatted about St Norbert because she is very familiar with the number of Norbertine Orders in a wide area of her world. Most of us have never heard of the Norbertines that is named after the saint. Interesting, eh? She added “so inspired by this faith community here as it seemed so alive – so many people singing, the homily and the priest.”
The CLC (Church Life Committee) will hold a meeting this September we are proud to announce. The members were named in a former newsletter and with their efforts and our future participation and co-operation much can be anticipated. This it is a relatively new committee and will further the aims and needs of our church community. They need all our prayers.
