SPECIAL EVENT INVITATION

Around the Lake Chad Basin on the African continent, thousands of farmers are fighting back to stop an entire ecosystem from unraveling because of climate change. Friends of Creation is a ministry program dedicated to providing resources and financial assistance to the farmers of Chad and Cameroon.

September is Friends of Creation month at Zion. As part of the Friends of Creation Challenge, congregations are invited to choose one action that helps care for creation in your everyday life. Whether it’s cutting down on food waste, using less energy, or supporting local farmers, every small step makes a difference.

We are pleased to host a Canadian Lutheran World Relief (CLWR) update on mission activities at Lake Chad. Church Relations Specialist Sheilagh McGlynn will speak about her visit to Chad and Cameroon in February 2026.

WE REMEMBER our special friendships with the exiled sailors of the Royal Norwegian Navy and Merchant Marine who spent time during the Second World War at Camp Norway, and stand alongside present-day Norwegians as they mourn the death of King Harald V. He succeeded his father King Haakon VII, who reigned during the war years and went into exile to protect his family. The new King is Harald's son, who will reign as King Haakon VIII. Long Live the King.

Worship Sunday, August 30, is at Camp Mush A Mush! The congregations of the South Shore Lutheran Shared Ministry are gathering this 5th Sunday of the month and celebrating Holy Communion. Service at 10:30 AM. The theme will be water. The offerings will be to Friends of Creation. Bring a chair!

Following this service we will gather for a potluck meal. Burgers and hot dogs will be provided, but if you are able, please bring a side dish, salad or dessert to share with others. Please bring a cold drink as well.

Fifth Sunday Worship at Camp Mush-a-Mush

Come as you are, bring a friend, and join us for a special outdoor worship service surrounded by the beauty of creation.

Following the service, stay for a potluck lunch and enjoy a relaxing day at the lake.

Burgers and hot dogs will be provided. If you're able, please bring a side dish, salad, or dessert to share.

Our mission offering (the loose collection) will be donated to Friends of Creation.

We look forward to worshipping and sharing fellowship with you!

Worship of the Word at Zion, Lunenburg, at 11:00 AM Sunday, August 23. Pastor Alex will lead us. Stay for our monthly fellowship with a light lunch. All welcome

No worship at Zion on Sunday, August 30 (5th Sunday of the month) as we will join our SSLSM churches at Camp Mush a Mush at 10:30 for a communion worship followed by a potluck lunch. If you can, bring a salad or other side to share. Hamburgers will be provided! See you there.

Remember to bring cookies (2 or 3 dozen) for the campers at Camp Mush this week. They will be taken to Camp Mush tomorrow afternoon! The kids are counting on us to give them their cookie treats!
