Meet the cast of "Sirens of Song"
Theresa Malenfant

Hailing from Dieppe, New Brunswick, Theresa Malenfant is a true vocal powerhouse whose raw, soulful delivery has earned her the title “Queen of Maritime Blues.” Drawing comparisons to legends Janis Joplin and Etta James, she brings unmatched passion, grit, and emotional depth to every performance.

Raised in a musical family, Theresa made her singing debut at fourteen and quickly found herself sharing the stage with Maritime blues icon Dutch Mason. After early success in Canada, she spent five years living and performing across Europe, building devoted followings in Belgium and the Netherlands before returning home to continue captivating audiences throughout Atlantic Canada and beyond.

Her accolades speak volumes: East Coast Music Awards for Best Female Artist in 1995, the prestigious Maple Blues Awards Lifetime Achievement honour (“Blues With a Feeling”) in 2015, second place in the Solo/Duo category at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in 2019 (with longtime collaborator Scott Medford), and the 2026 Stompin’ Tom Award for New Brunswick.

Whether fronting her powerhouse band The Instigators or performing as a dynamic duo with guitarist Scott Medford, Theresa delivers high-energy, heartfelt blues and soul that leave audiences spellbound. With critically acclaimed albums—including the Janis Joplin–inspired Little Girl Blue—and a stage presence that continues to electrify rooms of every size after fifty years of performing. Theresa is one of Canada’s most compelling and enduring voices.
