In 2025, Ramadan, Lent, and Purim all overlap, bringing together meaningful traditions of reflection, faith, and celebration!
Ramadan is a sacred month in Islam marked by fasting from dawn to sunset, prayer, and reflection. Many break their fast with dates and water, following the tradition of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him). It’s a time for spiritual growth, self-discipline, and community.
Lent is a Christian season of preparation leading up to Easter, often observed through fasting, prayer, and acts of sacrifice to reflect on Jesus’ journey. Some give up certain foods or habits as a way to grow in faith and discipline.
Purim is a joyful Jewish holiday celebrating the survival of the Jewish people in ancient Persia, as told in the Book of Esther. Traditions include dressing in costumes, giving to charity, and eating hamantaschen—triangle-shaped cookies filled with sweet fillings like poppy seed or jam.
No matter how you observe, these traditions highlight faith, reflection, and resilience!

Today marks the beginning of the Christian season of Advent. Advent is a four week season of preparation and anticipation for the birth of Jesus Christ at Christmas. It is also the start of the a new year in the Christian Calendar.

Each week of Advent, Christians reflect on the different themes of hope, peace, joy, and love, sometimes lighting a candle for each week as part of an Advent Wreath.

It is a season to reflect, slow down, and for Christians to prepare their hearts for the coming of Jesus at Christmas. 💜🩷

London Interfaith Peace Camp Day Five!

What a wonderful way to end off LIPC 2024! From learning about ourselves and each other to exploring the three Abrahamic faiths to building new friendships LIPC 2024 has been incredible!

On our last day of camp we spent some time reflecting on and discussing what we learned over the past week. We then got to put all of our knowledge into practice when we created our very own LIPC quilt!

Each camper created one (or two!) quilt squares that will be sewn together by Peace Camp volunteer Bridget to create a quilt to be used for LIPC for years to come!

After our creative crafting session, campers shared a meal together with some delicious cake and ice cream to celebrate!

In the morning our CITs worked together to cook yummy healthy snacks for our camp with Chef Circelli! In the afternoon, they gathered to discuss and share their CIT special project together where they each shared how their own gifts and skills as shown through their puzzle piece can work together as a community with everyone to be Peace Advocates through the completion of their full puzzle!

No final day of LIPC is complete without Sr. Shahin’s annual LIPC Scavenger hunt where campers looked for items that represented what we have learned during LIPC.

We ended the day with laughter and joy as we enjoyed some outdoor activities, received and signed our LIPC t-shirts, and took groups photos to end off camp!

Thank you to all of our Staff, Team Leads, Counsellors, Adult Volunteers, Campers and Families for making LIPC 2024 so special this year!

Peace, Salaam, Shalom

London Interfaith Peace Camp Day Four!

On the Thursday of camp we took a journey into exploring Christianity! Groups A and B began the day learning about the beauty of storytelling through Ms Maija’s story of baptism and Easter through conversations with the Spirit. Our Inclusion Team Lead Natalie gave a very special presentation on the sacredness of baptism. Groups C and D dug deeper into the Christian calendar, discussing key moments and seasons of prayer.

We visited the St. Thomas Aquinas Chapel at St. Peter’s Seminary, learning from Fr. Peter and exploring the space as Prayer Investigators (P.I.s)!

Groups A and B used their creativity to design their own wooden Easter eggs, learning about new life in Christianity and exploring Christian Orthodox art styles!

Groups C and D put their finishing touches on their Sacred Spaces - preparing to share with each other on the last day of camp.

Thank you to our friends from the E.D.I.D. Office who joined us on Thursday to learn about LIPC! .edid

London Interfaith Peace Camp Day Three!

On the Wednesday of LIPC we continued to be blessed as we gathered to learn and explore Judaism! In the morning, Rabbi Debra Dressler shared insights into Jewish celebrations, rituals, and lifecycles. We visited Temple Israel, admired the beautiful and sacred Torahs, and enjoyed a delicious lunch together! 🍽️✨

Groups A and B created vibrant murals of important Jewish celebrations using recyclable and craft materials, while groups C and D contained building their Sacred Spaces. Our CITs dove into team-building activities, discovering the power of collaboration and sharing their unique gifts. 🤝

A special shout out to the three O.P.P. Officers who volunteered with us today, learning alongside our campers and making this day even more memorable. Thank you for volunteering your time and making this a priority!

Peace, Salaam, Shalom

London Interfaith Peace Camp Day Two!

What an incredible day of learning and understanding about the Islamic faith!

Our Groups A and B gathered with Sr. Shahin to explore sacred celebrations like Eid and the pilgrimage to Mecca. Groups C and D discussed and learned about daily prayer rituals, gaining new insight into prayer in Islam.

Together, we visited the London Muslim Mosque for a beautiful tour with Imam Twakkal and some amazing volunteers!🙌✨

For craft time, Groups A and B creatively took what they learned about Hajj and created their own Kaabas. Groups C and D began working on their special art projects that reflect their faith stories and what they have learned about their friends from other traditions.

A shout out to our CITs who stepped up as leaders on a Tuesday, guiding our younger campers along the way. You rock!👏

Peace, Salaam, Shalom

London Interfaith Peace Camp Day One!

Such an inspiring first day! 🙌✨

We started our week off focusing on our theme of Peace Advocacy by painting symbols and special things that reminded us of each of our faith traditions onto our Peace Poles. We had thoughtful conversations about what we are curious to learn and bonded over lots of fun outdoor activities as a group!

Stay tuned this week for more recaps of each day of LIPC.

Special shout out to Wally our LIPC photographer for all of his amazing photos and dedication to LIPC!
