“You can’t eat the Body of Christ and stay the same.”

That line from Sara Miles has stayed with me.

Because if what we do on Sunday is real — if the bread we break really does draw us into the Body of Christ — then worship can never simply be something we attend.

It sends us back into the world differently.

More attentive to our neighbours.
More concerned about hungry bodies.
More willing to love, serve, forgive, welcome, and risk something for the sake of another.

At St. Paul’s Cathedral, we’re trying to discover together what it means to follow Jesus at the heart of the city — and to allow that following to change us.

If you’re curious about faith, returning after some time away, or simply wondering whether church might have something to say to the life you’re living right now, come and see.

🎒 BACK TO SCHOOL BLESSING & BLESSING OF THE BACKPACKS! 🎒

Labour Day weekend means a new school year is just around the corner — and we want to send our students, teachers, school staff and families into it surrounded by prayer and encouragement.

📚 Sunday, September 6 at 10:00 AM

Kids — bring your backpacks! 🎒
Minecraft, Pokémon, Stitch, Bluey, Spider-Man, Hello Kitty, dinosaurs, unicorns, your favourite team… or that very sophisticated plain black backpack! Bring the bag you’ll be carrying to school and we’ll bless it — and you — for the year ahead.

❤️ And we’re inviting our whole community to help another child get ready for school.

Parishioners, neighbours, grandparents, friends — everyone is welcome to bring a new backpack or school supplies to donate for children and families who could use some extra support.

Notebooks, pencils, pens, pencil crayons, markers, erasers, glue sticks, rulers, pencil cases and reusable water bottles are all welcome.

Bring a backpack to be blessed.
Help us fill a backpack to be shared.

Because every child deserves to begin the school year feeling excited, prepared and supported.

🍽️ Set the Table for Our Community

At St. Paul’s Cathedral, we believe our nave is more than a place of worship on Sunday mornings.

Throughout the week it becomes a place where neighbours gather, newcomers find welcome, meals are shared, community organizations meet, concerts and conferences are held, friendships are formed, and Christ’s invitation to the table is extended to all.

To support that vision, we are launching our “Set the Table for Our Community” campaign to purchase 45 hospitality tables that will help transform our sacred space into a place of radical hospitality every day of the week.

And before we’ve even officially launched, something remarkable has happened.

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of one of our parishioners, 24 of our 45 hospitality tables have already been sponsored.

That means our goal is now to secure the remaining 21 tables.

What an incredible beginning.

Now we have the opportunity, as a parish and wider community, to build on that generosity together.

We also know that many people are already giving generously in countless ways. For some, sponsoring an entire table may simply not be possible—and that’s perfectly okay.

Every gift, whatever its size, brings us closer to our goal. Whether you can sponsor a table, share the cost of a table with family or friends, or make a donation of any amount, your generosity will help create a place where people experience welcome, belonging, and hope.

You may choose to:
• Sponsor a table for $300
• Share the cost of a table with family or friends
• Give in memory or in honour of someone special
• Make a gift of any amount toward one of the remaining tables

As Jesus reminds us:

“When you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind.” — Luke 14:13

Together, we are extending Christ’s table beyond Sunday morning—creating a place where worship, fellowship, learning, service, celebration, and community flourish in the heart of our city.

This sacred day invites us to pray, listen, learn, and recommit ourselves to the ongoing work of truth, healing, and reconciliation. We are honoured to welcome Indigenous leaders, elders, clergy, musicians, and members of Indigenous Anglican communities who will help lead us in worship.

Reconciliation is not merely a historical concern—it is a living commitment to building right relationships with one another and with the Creator.

Whether you are Indigenous or non-Indigenous, a person of faith or simply seeking a place to reflect and learn, you are warmly invited to join us.
