Today we hosted our first Laurier Lunch of the new school year. Over the lunch hour, students from Sir Wilfrid Secondary School (our next door neighbours) were invited to join us in our Gym for chicken sandwiches, chips and freezies. It was great to see so many returning students and to meet lots of new students!

Our next Laurier Lunch will be on Tuesday, October 6.

Just a reminder…

Please note that on Monday, September 14 & Tuesday, September 15 we are having some excavation work done in our backyard. In order to ensure that the big equipment has adequate space to move around, our backyard will be completely closed off. Also parking will be limited in our lot. As a result, only our staff and those attending programs in our building will have access. If you normally use our parking lot as a drop off/pick up location for your student at Sir Wilfrid Laurier Secondary School, please arrange an alternative spot for these two days. Thank you for cooperation!

The first Young Adult Fellowship & Life Group of the new program year will meet next Sunday (September 20) at 6:00 p.m. Young adults (College/University age) are invited to join us at Pickle Barrel (located at 387 Wellington Road - London) for dinner. This will give us an opportunity to enjoy a meal together while catching up as well as planning what we’d like to cover this year as a group. We will finish up our time together with a time of prayer. The cost of the meal will be a personal expense. Today was Camp Sunday. During our Worship Gathering this morning, our kids who went to camp and our youth and young adults who worked at camp this summer shared about their adventures with us. We are grateful to hear how God used The Salvation Army’s Ontario Camping Ministries to show hundreds of staff and thousands of campers His love this summer! After church, we celebrated the launch of our new program year with cake…YUM!

The first Youth Group of the new program year will be held next Sunday (September 20) right after our Worship Gathering. Students in Grades 7-12 are invited to bring their lunch and join us in the Fireside Room at 12:30 p.m. After lunch, we will play some games and participate in a baking challenge centred around our theme "A is for Apple". There is no cost for this event. Parents are asked to arrive back at the church at 2:15 p.m. in order to serve as the judges for our baking challenge. Prizes will be awarded. If you are planning to attend, please RSVP by calling (519-668-0025) or emailing ([email protected]) the Church Office by this Wednesday (September 16).

Today we launched our new program year by hosting a Community Carnival. It was our pleasure and privilege to welcome approximately 335 of our neighbours! It was great to see some old friends as well as to meet lots of new friends! A big thank you to all of our church members as well as our friends from The Salvation Army’s London Community Services who helped with set up, serving, running games, and clean up! We were having so much fun that we didn’t get a lot of photos but here are a few…

Our first Women's Fellowship of the new program year will take place next Saturday (September 19) at 12:00 noon. Women (ages 16+) are invited to gather at the church for our Pot Luck Picnic & Planning Meeting. After we enjoy lunch together, we will spend some time brainstorming activity ideas for Women's Fellowship for the coming months.
