This is the last week to come out and learn about local history from our excellent team of summer employees.

Today we celebrate the feast of Saint Stephen on its alternate date in the Book of Alternative Services. Historically, August 3 served as a celebration for the Invention of the Relics of Saint Stephen—‘invention’ in this case meaning ‘to come upon’ or ‘to find.’ Stephen lived as one of the first deacons of the Church, and died the first Christian martyr.

Grant us grace, O Lord, that like Stephen we may learn to love even our enemies and seek forgiveness for those who desire our hurt.
