Pope Leo XIV has appointed Bishop Joseph Dabrowski, C.S.M.A., as the 10th Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Hamilton in Ontario.

“I am deeply humbled and grateful to be called by the Holy Father to serve the Church as Bishop of Hamilton. In my time here, I have come to know and love the priests, consecrated men and women, and faithful of Prince Edward Island.” — Bishop Joseph

We are grateful that Bishop Joseph will remain with us until December 31, 2025, continuing to celebrate Masses, attend parish events, and walk with us in faith.

🙏 Prayer is the most important gift we can offer. Please pray for Bishop Joseph, for our Diocesan leadership, and for the faithful of both Charlottetown and Hamilton.

Last Sunday, May 25, 2025, marked my final day serving as Pastoral Minister at the London East Central Catholic Family of Parishes. I want to take a moment to say thank you to all the families, parents, and children I’ve had the privilege of walking with, to the friends, colleagues, and our priests I’ve worked alongside, and to the community that welcomed me so warmly.

While I am stepping away from parish ministry, my work of serving and supporting others continues in a new way. Since January, I have been providing Spiritual Care for people facing end-of-life and who are residing at St. Joseph’s Hospice and for individuals in the London and Middlesex area through Ontario Health atHome.

If you know someone who is palliative, please know that spiritual care is available to them and their caregivers at no cost. This could mean a prayer, a conversation, or a Holy Communion service through an arranged home visit.

Feel free to reach out or share this information with anyone who might benefit from it. My new email is [email protected]
Spiritual care can be highly beneficial for the palliative person, making all the difference in a challenging season of life.

Thank you for being part of my journey. Let’s continue to care for one another, whatever path we happen to be on.

Biography of Cardinal Robert F. Prévost

Robert F. Prévost was born on September 14, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois. He was raised in a devout Roman Catholic family, an upbringing that significantly shaped his vocational path. Prévost studied at the University of St. Mary of the Lake, where he began rigorous theological education and formation for the priesthood.

Priestly Ordination:
After his seminary studies, Prévost was ordained a priest on May 24, 1980. His early ministry involved pastoral care within various parishes, where he became known for his dedication to social justice and community engagement.
**Academic Pursuits:**
Throughout his career, Cardinal Prévost remained committed to academic growth. He pursued further studies in canon law and theology, which later influenced his work in the administrative and pastoral aspects of the Church. His scholarly pursuits included involvement in teaching and formation of future clergy.

Bishop of the Diocese of Eau Claire:
In 2006, Robert Prévost was consecrated as the Bishop of the Diocese of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. His tenure was marked by a focus on revitalizing parishes, promoting youth ministry, and strengthening the Church’s presence in the community. He became known for his approachable pastoral style and efforts to engage with the laity.

Archbishop of Chicago:
In 2017, Cardinal Prévost was appointed as the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Chicago, one of the largest and most influential dioceses in the United States. This role placed him at the forefront of addressing contemporary issues facing the Catholic Church, including social justice, clergy sexual abuse, and interfaith dialogue.
Throughout his archbishopric, he advocated for marginalized communities and worked towards healing and reconciliation within the Church. His leadership style emphasized compassion, transparency, and the importance of listening to the diverse voices within the Archdiocese.

Elevation to Cardinal:
On January 18, 2023, Pope Francis elevated Robert F. Prévost to the rank of Cardinal in a ceremony at the Vatican. This appointment not only recognized his dedicated service to the Church but also positioned him as a key figure in the global Catholic community. As a cardinal, he was tasked with advising the Pope and participating in the governance of the Church at an international level.

Influence and Legacy:
Cardinal Prévost's influence extends beyond administrative roles; he has been an advocate for reform and renewal within the Church, reflecting a commitment to a more inclusive and compassionate community. His theological insights, shaped by a deep understanding of both pastoral and canonical aspects of the Church, have made him a respected figure among peers.

Cultural Engagement:
In addition to his ecclesiastical duties, Cardinal Prévost has engaged in various cultural and community initiatives, often speaking on issues such as the importance of family, the sanctity of life, and the role of faith in public life. He consistently emphasizes the need for the Church to remain relevant and responsive to the needs of society.

Conclusion:
Cardinal Robert F. Prévost’s life and ministry stand as a testament to his commitment to the Catholic faith and his dedication to serving God’s people. Through pastoral care, education, and advocacy for social justice, he has left an indelible mark on the Church, fostering a sense of community and hope for the future. As he continues in his role as a cardinal, his contributions will undoubtedly resonate throughout the Catholic Church.
