Are you available Saturday morning at 9? A large tree has come down in wind and has to be cleaned up. Dave will be helping us, yet again, but he needs your help.

Holy smokes! The numbers from today’s pantry event are truly staggering. We welcomed 34 individual clients today, and in a whirlwind of 35 minutes, they were all registered, served, and on their way. When you look at the total reach, those families represent 160 individuals in our community who now have food on their tables, including 5 specially prepared children’s packs.
The need is great, and the demand is steady, which makes the reality of our limited supply weigh heavily on us. However, we are so incredibly blessed to have the support that makes this possible. A massive thank you to Urban Roots for the beautiful, fresh produce we shared today, and to Harvest Hands for their continued generosity. We are also deeply grateful for the ongoing support from the London Food Bank, which allows us to keep our doors open. We know that not everyone receives the exact same items, but we do our very best to meet our clients exactly where they are, providing what we can with the resources we have.

The morning began with the heavy, rhythmic sound of shovels biting into heaps of stone. Hard work has a unique way of stripping away the pretenses of daily life, leaving only the grit and determination of the task at hand. As we spent hours gravel spreading, our muscles burned and our backs stiffened, but there was a quiet, steady satisfaction in watching the rough, uneven ground transform into a smooth, purposeful path beneath our feet. It looked great—a tangible testament to what can be accomplished when everyone pulls their weight toward a common goal.
Yet, the true value of the day wasn't found in the landscaping, but in the spaces between the labor. There was a profound sense of fellowship as we leaned on our tools to catch our breath, our shared exhaustion turning into easy conversation. It was in these moments that we found ourselves sharing our faith, opening up about our struggles and our hopes in ways that rarely happen in the sterile environment of a quiet room. The vulnerability of the work seemed to open our hearts, making the spiritual conversations feel as natural as the labor itself.
Above all, the air was punctuated by constant laughter. Whether it was a joke cracked over a stubborn pile of rocks or the lighthearted teasing that inevitably follows a long morning of physical effort, that laughter acted as the glue that bound us together. By the time we laid the last shovel down, we realized that while we had set out to improve the grounds, we had actually ended up strengthening our bond. We walked away with tired limbs, but refreshed spirits, grateful for the fellowship that turned a day of sweat into a memory of true connection.
