In Loving Memory
of Cora Turcott (nee Falkenberg)
who left this world peacefully on Friday October 16th, 2026 with her loving family surrounding her.
Cora is predeceased by her openly adored Husband, Jim Turcott, her parents, Rolf and Cora Falkenberg (nee Rieck) and her brother, Rolf Falkenberg Jr (Natalie). She leaves behind her sister, Claudia “Pic” Falkenberg, her brother-in-law, Tim Turcott, her daughters, Vicki and Lisa (Louis), her boyfriend, Wayne Gorham and his daughters, Jodie and Robyn, her grandchildren, Felix, Trent and Rylee, as well as nieces, Kate, Holly and Cassi.
A lifelong foodie, punctuated by her happy food dance, Cora adored her family, as well as art, travel, and volunteer work. She experienced the world with open curiosity and appreciation. Her signature phrase, "Next!" spoke to the way she was always ready for whatever life decided to throw at her. Those that knew her felt her love and generosity through all of her actions. She will be deeply missed in many groups, families and communities. The family wishes to thank everyone for their support and love during this time.

Last year I helped to carry the Memorial Cloth — a sacred 60-meter-long red banner that bears the verified names of thousands of Indigenous children who died in Canada's residential school system.

I deeply believe that Every Child Matters, and yet I struggle to find daily connections to that belief – how do I live this out every day? It’s one thing to wear an orange shirt on National Day of Truth and Reconciliation but another to choose to get uncomfortable with the truths that led to this commemoration.

So, I thought I’d make a short list of things you might consider engaging with as acts of reconciliation beyond Sept. 30.
