***CLOSURE OF THE ASSEMBLY***
It is with deep sadness that we as a congregation announce the closure of our church here in Leading Tickles. There are no words that can be said to ease the burden of this situation. We do not know what the future holds, but we are confident in the one who holds our future.
The Pentecostal church in our community began in the 1960’s through an outreach endeavor by the Pentecostal assembly in Pt. Leamington. Meetings were first held in the Fishermen’s Hall on Culls Island until a Church was built on the main land side of “the tickle”.
The first resident Pastors to come to our community were two young girls, Pastors Sandra Laing & Geraldine Williams. Having no congregation at that time, ministry for them began with the children of the town. After some children’s meetings were held, some kids began to give their lives to the Lord. This in turn began to draw their parents to the light of the Gospel. From there, a congregation began to form as people felt a tug from the Holy Spirit to give their lives to the Lord.
Many miracles and healings have been witnessed since the early days, such as cancers being healed, breast diseases healed, heart defects restored, severe arthritis being taken away. There are many stories of healing that could be told that words cannot describe. To God be the Glory!
Throughout the years, many young people of the assembly began to feel the “call” to ministry and are still pastoring today. We give thanks to the Lord for the fruit that has been birthed from our congregation.
Some 57 years later, the legacy of faith still lives on in the children, and grandchildren of the early believers. A true testimony to the power of the Gospel. We give thanks to our Lord for the wonderful heritage we have been witnessed to over the years. We thank God for the Pastors who have come to us over the years to sew seeds of the Gospel. The fruit of their labours are evident today, but the full extent may not be revealed until we all meet in eternity.
We would like to thank the many musicians, board members, song leaders, ushers, church janitors, and volunteers who have given so freely of their time and talents to be used for the Lord. Though there are no earthly rewards for your given time, I’m sure there will be a jewel when rewards go around in Heaven.
The final service will take place on October the 1st at 11:00 A.M. Without a doubt it will be a service many, if not all of us, will dread. Nevertheless, we encourage all who are able to attend, as we give thanks for the past, and trust our future to our Lord.
God Bless.
