A Prayer for Prime Minister–Elect Carney and All Members of Parliament
Gracious and Sovereign God,
Today, we come before You with gratitude and humility, acknowledging Your hand in the life of our nation. Over these past 35 days, Canadians have engaged in the democratic process. We have prayed, voted, and sought wisdom for the future of our country.
As a new government prepares to lead, we pause to seek your continued guidance.
We pray for Prime Minister–Elect Mark Carney. Thank you for his willingness to serve our country. May he lead with humility, integrity, and a heart attuned to justice and compassion. As he steps into this high responsibility, may a new spirit of cooperation and dignity take root in Parliament, and may it spread throughout our land.
We pray for every newly elected Member of Parliament.
Grant them wisdom beyond their experience, strength beyond their own resources, and clarity that comes from seeking the common good. Equip them to lead with courage and grace, and to serve Canadians with fairness, humility, and honour.
We also remember those who stood for election but were not elected. Thank you for their courage to step forward and offer themselves in service. We ask that you guide and bless them in the new chapters ahead. May they know the value of their contribution, seen and unseen.
Lord, You know the challenges our nation faces—complex issues requiring discernment, courage, and compassion. We ask that our leaders, on every side of the House, would be strengthened by Your wisdom. And we, as Your people, ask that You would help us to remain faithful in prayer, persistent in hope, and active in love, reflecting the character of Christ in all we do.
Bless our leaders. Bless our nation. And may Your kingdom come and Your will be done in Canada as it is in heaven.
We pray this in the strong and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
