Day 1: Apparition Hill Medjugourie.
Dear pilgrim, you are now at the base of the Apparition Hill, above the hamlet of Podbrdo, in the village of Bijakovici, the parish of Medjugorje. The rocky pathway in front of you, with the mysteries of the Holy Rosary, leads you towards the place of the first apparitions.
Opposite the second joyful mystery, there is a big cross and the first message that Our Lady gave on the third day of the apparitions, June 26th 1981, a message of peace!
The pathway on the right, after the fifth joyful mys-tery, leads to the statue of Our Lady, which was placed here in 2001. This is the place of Our Lady's apparition of June 25th 1981, when six young people:
Vicka Ivanković, Marija Pavlović, Ivanka Ivanka Ivan-ković, Mirjana Dragičević, Ivan Dragičević and Jakov Colo saw Our Lady. They prayed with Her and spoke to Her. Despite the Yugoslav Communist opposition, ever since, this hill has become a place of prayer and peace. Millions of pilgrims from all parts of the world gather here and pray for the intercession of the Queen of Peace.
