Over two days in May (13-14), many of our future leaders joined the annual EFCC Ministry Orientation to learn about EFCC’s vision, mission, identity, and available services. This is the first step toward earning your EFCC Ministerial Accreditation.

This year, we ended with a timely and much-needed Conflict Resolution Training (15 May) led by Darrin Hotte and Hugh Fraser. Both have experience helping people and groups work through conflict, change, and crises.

It was a great time of reconnection, fellowship, learning, and discussion about EFCC and what makes our family thrive and flourish. Don’t miss your chance to attend one of these great events next time. You can inquire about dates of upcoming EFCC events at: [email protected].

Family is interesting!

Love, acceptance, patience, and grace are some of the basic building blocks of family. Family is a place where we are known and loved, despite our quirks and character deficiencies, and where we are called to do the same for others. Family is one of the greatest gifts God has given us.

Just as we have physical families, we also have a spiritual family. We are the children of God, placed into a new family through the work of Christ. That one vast family shows up in a variety of smaller family units across our globe. Our particular family unit happens to be our EFCC family. It's a family unit that we have been a part of for many years, some up to fifty years, and we deeply love it.

That particular family is gathering this month for our conference, June 18-20, 2026, in Winnipeg. Let's be in prayer as we anticipate being together. Let's pray that our time together will be a time of renewal, a time for deepening relationships, and a reminder of who we are and why we are together.

We hope to see you all in Winnipeg!

Please keep praying for our family, the EFCC family.

The EFCC Ministry Orientation (M.O.) 2026 kicked off yesterday, with folks from all corners of Canada registering and having a great time reconnecting.

This year, Shaun Wick, our new EFCC President, is taking the lead as delegates dive into two full days of exploring the EFCC's vision, mission, identity, and all the services on offer. It's the starting point for getting your EFCC Ministerial Accreditation.

To cap off two days of M.O., we've got Conflict Resolution Training on May 15, led by Darrin Hotte and Hugh Fraser, who are experienced at helping individuals and groups navigate conflict, transition, and crises. It'll all be happening at the Robert G. Kuhn Centre on the TWU Campus.

Paul, the Spirit, and the People of God by Gordon D. Fee

In today's evangelical circles, the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, is frequently overlooked or misused.

Tyler Harper, the Associate Leadership Catalyst with the EFCC, offers his insights in this book review, highlighting Gordon's compelling reminder of God's vision for the church through His Holy Spirit as illustrated in this work.

"She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness. She carefully watches everything in her household and suffers nothing from laziness." (Proverbs 31:25-27)

We're super grateful for everything you do and for being such a rock for us. Your wisdom, grace, and support make a huge difference in so many lives.

We celebrate you! Always!

The EFCC aims to cultivate a unified family of churches and to see individuals with Christ-like leadership rise and uphold the Free Church motto: "Unity - Charity - Jesus Christ" through our yearly gathering, Ministry Orientation.

In past years, Ministry Orientation has been conducted in conjunction with Leadership Week. This year, Leadership Week took place on February 19-20, 2026, while the Ministry Orientation is set for May 13-14, 2026. Following this, we will offer Conflict Resolution Training on May 15. Both events will be held at the Robert G. Kuhn Centre located within the TWU Campus in Langley, BC.

If you haven't registered yet, there is still an opportunity to do so. Please visit: https://efcc.ca/ministry-orientation/

These events will provide invaluable insights into EFCC's heritage and essential guidance for managing relationships within the church community.

We look forward to seeing everyone there.

“Father, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. Give us each day the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation.” (Luke 11:2-4 - NLT)

Praying the Lord's Prayer

It has always been fascinating to see the chiastic structure that exists in huge swaths of our Biblical literature. Luke's recording of the Lord's Prayer lends itself to such a structure. How you ask: "Father, may your name be kept holy", contrasts with "And don't let us yield to temptation". "May your Kingdom come soon", contrasts with the way we humans do things, and then need to ask, "Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us." And then we get to the core of the prayer - "Give us each day the food we need."

In that structure, we see three pieces to this prayer: Adoration of God and his holiness, Confession that our ways are not God's, and simple Requests for the needs of life. The EFCC May Prayer Guide is going to follow that basic format as we highlight a variety of things around the EFCC to be praying into.

Please visit: https://efcc.ca/prayer-guide/ to guide you in how you could be praying for a specific request.
