NLCC Life Journaling

NLCC Life Journaling A resource and encouragement for those following the Life Journaling and Bible reading plan recommended by North Langley Community Church, BC, Canada.

At NLCC we encourage each individual to have regular, daily times to connect with God in his Word and prayer. We offer a Bible reading/journaling system that we call Life Journals. They have instructions and examples of what journaling is all about. They are for sale at the Info Desk in the foyer or at the church office for only $5, or are available as a free PDF on our website. This is a great wa

y study and learn for yourself. If you prefer to do your Bible reading on your device, NLCC's new Two Year Life Journaling Reading Plan is now available on the Reading Plan iPhone/iPad app, available in the iTunes Store (see link below)! The app is free, and links to any of your favourite online sources for the Bible, including Bible Gateway, Crossway ESV, the YouVersion app, and many others. Once you've installed it, here's the best way to set up the reading plan:

1. Go to Settings.
2. On the Reading Plan tab, choose "View Available Plans," and then click on the "Download" button under NLCC Two Year (the second plan in the list). This will put you on the same plan published in the new Life Journal.
3. On the Start Date tab, set the plan to start at January 1, 2017 (this will sync you with the published plan).
4. On the Bible Link tab, choose the online or app source where you read your Bible. Bible Gateway and Crossway ESV are defaults. For the YouVersion Bible App (must be installed on your device), click on "View Available Links," scroll down to YouVersion, and click "Add."
5. I recommend setting the "Open To" tab to "Today"; rather than trying to catch up when you miss a day or two, I recommend always coming back to TODAY. Otherwise you can get discouraged.
6. One other recommendation: If you are using the YouVersion app I find it is best to set the "Detail View" tab to "Display Separately" as "One Reading to Display." You will toggle back and forth between the two apps for each separate Scripture. If you are using Bible Gateway as your source, you can set the "Detail View" tab to "Display Combined" as "One Reading to Display" and all three readings will show up on one page. https://apps.apple.com/app/id336984707?fbclid=IwAR0i7yTeaHR07j6oFxsa8qNG4bGhkTJWcuMn4GZho2pRMu09U2xIWM-ldtM

I hope this helps all you device-dependent Bible-readers to facilitate your Bible reading habit in 2017!
