Though we are back, we continue to offer on-line options via Facebook and live-streaming via YouTube, as of March 2023. Services are also available thanks to Citywest TV, Channel 10, Sunday mornings at 10am. All are welcome! We are an inclusive faith community which welcomes all gender expressions, ages, stages, ethnicities, orientations, abilities, education and economic levels.

WEDNESDAYS: 10:30am-11:30am: "Walk, Pray, Love" - walking prayer group, Tamitik Arena during winter/poor weather. Meet at Church Sunny days. THURSDAYS: 10-noon: "Coffee with a Difference" is continuing to meet (a hybrid (in-person/Zoom) option will be provided.) THURSDAYS every 2nd week: 6:30-8:30PM: Healing Pathway" practice. Members of the Kitimat Ministerial Association, we participate in ecumenical events like, Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, World Day of Prayer, Community Christmas Concerts, the Foodbank and TSW Food Share programs. We also offer through First United, annual "Pet & Animal Blessing" and, "Motorcycle, Bikes & Riders" services. Nine year old Joey was asked by his mother what he had learned at Sunday school.
"Well, Mom, our teacher told us how God sent Moses behind enemy lines on a rescue mission to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.
"When he got to the Red Sea, he had his engineers build a pontoon bridge and all the people walked across safely.
"Then he used his walkie-talkie to radio headquarters for reinforcements. They sent bombers to blow up the bridge and all the Israelites were saved."
"Now, Joey, is that really what your teacher taught you?" his mother asked.
"Well, no. But if I told it the way the teacher did, you'd never believe it!"

Every year on March 14, The United Church of Canada celebrates National Affirming PIE Day. PIE stands for Public, Intentional, Explicit Inclusion of 2SLGBTQIA+ People.

Last year, we celebrated the music that moves us. This year for the Moderator's 2026 PIE Day message, we are broadening our horizons to celebrate every kind of creator—woodcutters, crocheters, gardeners, and bakers—who help weave connections between 2S and LGBTQAI+ people, the church, and all in our communities.

Why PIE Day matters right now: With 2SLGBTQIA+ rights under threat, living into our faith means more than just words. It means:

Deep Spirituality: Recognizing Christ as the bread of life who feeds us.
Daring Justice: Showing up at Pride rallies and standing against hate.
Bold Discipleship: Creating spaces where everyone truly belongs.

Indigenous matriarchs have always been leaders within our communities.

They are knowledge keepers, decision-makers, and protectors of culture, land, and future generations. Their strength carries through quiet guidance, hard decisions made with love, and the teachings passed across generations.

On International Women’s Day, we honour the Indigenous women who shape our communities. Not only today, but every day.

Today, I have written to Beth Avraham Yoseph of Toronto, Temple Emanu-El, and Shaarei Shomayim to express solidarity and deep concern on behalf of The United Church of Canada over the recent shootings at these three synagogues in the Greater Toronto Area, wanting them to know that I, and United Church members across the country, are holding these communities in prayer.

The United Church of Canada unequivocally condemns all such acts of terror and hate. We recognize that these shootings are meant to create fear within Jewish communities, especially given the history of the Shoah. Places of worship should be safe spaces for connection with the divine and with one another. Antisemitic acts of violence have no place in Canada.

In the aftermath of these shootings, our prayers will continue for these synagogues and the Jewish community for well-being. We also will continue to work to counter antisemitism in our nation and in local communities.
