PROMISE WORD (Oct. 2026)
VISIBLE and INVISIBLE
Dear friends in Jesus,
Sometimes when we read or encounter a passage like this, it paints a picture of the vast difference between us and the God we believe in.
As human beings, we sometimes find it difficult to relate to such a huge difference because that difference seems to create a gap between God and us.
Because of this, a question may arise in our hearts: Does the God we truly believe in understand us? Can He really relate to what we are going through?
Remember, God Himself told us that His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts.
There is indeed a vast difference when it comes to how we understand His plans and purposes for our lives!
But that is not the end of the picture.
Sometimes we take one passage and try to build our entire understanding around it. But when we look at Scripture as a whole, we discover something beautiful.
Although God’s ways are higher than ours and we may not understand what He is doing, Scripture continually calls us to trust His purposes. God says elsewhere:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” - Jeremiah 29:11
That gives us hope and expectation. It propels us to keep going, not because we understand everything, but because we know who God is. Because He lives, we can face tomorrow.
There is a vast difference between what we can see and what God can see.
With our physical eyes, we see what is immediately in front of us: the battles, troubles, challenges, weaknesses, shame, guilt, fear, closed doors and locked opportunities.
These things are visible.
But what we cannot always see is what God is doing behind them. We cannot always see the purpose behind our pain. We cannot always understand the purpose behind our suffering. We cannot see what God may be doing through our disappointments, closed doors and missed opportunities.
That part is invisible.
My friends, although the troubles and challenges you are facing today are visible, never forget that God is also at work in ways you cannot yet see.
As you begin this new month, remind yourself whenever you face a difficulty: What I see right now is only the visible part. There is also an invisible work of God that I cannot yet see.
Begin to look at that invisible reality through the eyes of faith.
Make this your decision today:
“Lord, Your ways are higher than my ways. Sometimes all I can see are the visible things, the problems, difficulties and challenges. But today I choose to trust You for what I cannot see. I believe that You are working even when I do not understand Your purpose. I will not allow what is visible to destroy my faith in what is invisible. My eyes of faith will continue to look to You.”
And this is exactly what Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 4:18: “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
My dear friends, do not allow what you see today to determine what you believe about tomorrow. The trouble you see is visible and temporary, but God is working beyond what your physical eyes can see.
So in this new month, when your eyes see the battle, let your faith see beyond the battle. When your eyes see a closed door, let your faith continue to trust the God who sees what you cannot see.
The visible may describe what you are facing today, but the invisible work of God gives you faith to face tomorrow.
Have yourself a wonderful and blessed month of October as we enter into this beautiful Thanksgiving season 🍁
May our hearts be filled with gratitude for God’s goodness, faithfulness, and unfailing love.
I love you all so much ❤️ May Jesus richly bless you and your families throughout this month!
