Over the next two Sundays (September 6 and 13), we will look at our vision as a church as we launch a new ministry year. This Sunday, we will present our church mission statement, and the sermon will focus on Jesus’ call to ‘make disciples’ from Matthew 28. We call it the Great Commission – a mission for all believers in every generation.

Would you like to practise speaking English and build friendships? You are invited to the English Café! This is an opportunity to practise English conversation with a simple English lesson each week. Also, enjoy a hot drink and light lunch. This program runs for 11 weeks. There is no cost and no need to register. All are welcome!

We are thrilled to welcome Dan Schell to our staff team as our new Director of Youth Ministries. Dan’s ministry experience has been varied, including camp ministry, youth outreach centres, and work among students at Heritage College & Seminary. For the past few years, Dan has served as a youth pastor in the Kawartha region. Dan is married to Heather-Lynn, an accomplished and passionate Bible teacher herself, and they are parents to four children: Piper, Jed, Lily and Phoebe. They will begin their official ministry among us on Tuesday, October 13.

Please join us in welcoming Dan and his family to Grandview!

Whether transitioning from high school to college/university, experiencing a new country for the first time or simply looking ahead to another year of school, post-secondary education can bring a mix of excitement, uncertainty, and new challenges for young adults.

This Sunday, we’ll be joining churches across Canada for Every Student Sunday. As part of our service, we’ll take time to pray for our college and university students and faculty, as well as ministries like Power to Change that come alongside young adults and encourage them as they take their next steps toward Jesus.

We’ll also hear from Domonique, one of our new supported missionaries, who is “dedicated to walking alongside students through P2C, helping them encounter Jesus and build meaningful relationships rooted in Christ.”

This fall, join Pastor Jeremy for a 7-week Bible Overview of the Old Testament. This course is open to everyone in the church and is designed to help you see the Bible as one unified story of God’s plan of salvation, from eternity to eternity.

Whether you’re a new believer or have been following Christ for years, we pray this course will deepen your understanding of how the books of the Bible fit together. Each week, we’ll unlock and trace the storyline of Scripture through the pages of the Old Testament. Along the way, we’ll uncover remarkable prophecies about Christ and the gospel, explore some of the Bible’s more obscure books, and answer questions such as:

• Can we really believe the account of Noah and the great flood?
• Why are the tabernacle and the priestly clothing so significant?
• What do the beasts in Daniel represent?

Come and find out about God’s big story! From the Garden of Eden to the New Jerusalem, we’ll follow God’s unfolding plan through prophets, priests, and kings, all leading to Jesus Christ - the Son of David, the sacrificial Lamb who died on the cross for our salvation and who will one day return as the conquering King.
