Dear Grace Family & Friends,
Today I was reminded as I watched the morning news that today is "Earth Day" and that for 50 years we have been recognizing this day and focusing our attention on our own environment and the things that we do to impact it.In Genesis we read that when God had finished His creative efforts making the heavens and the the earth, "God saw all that he had made, and it was very good."
David the Psalmist reflected on God's earth with these words, "The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;"and again in Psalm 8 he wrote these words of praise:Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory
in the heavens.
Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.
When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels
and crowned them with glory and honor.
You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
you put everything under their feet:
all flocks and herds,
and the animals of the wild,
the birds in the sky,
and the fish in the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
I would encourage you to look beyond the creation and see the Creator today and spend some time in worshiping Him. Offer Him a hymn of grateful praise.
May these two hymns and the images that accompany them bless you today.
