"YOU SHALL DRINK FROM THE WADI, AND I HAVE COMMANDED RAVENS TO FEED YOU THERE."(1Kg 17:4)

The child of God never goes hungry or thirsty. Jesus in His sermon on Mount says: those who are hunger or thirst for righteousness will be filled (Matt 5:1-12). Elijah serves God faithfully and teaches against worshipping of Baal. He puts his trust in God during the great three-year drought in Israel. He calls down drought on the land because of the wickedness of King Ahab. In times of drought, famine, war, pandemic, whom do l call? Do l trust in God's protection in these times? What is the blessed life which God intends for me? l must trust God in all situations. Nature! Nature!! Nature!!! Who is the Giver of rain and Lord of Nature? I have a spiritual hunger and thirst that only God can satisfy. He gives me everything that leads to true happiness. God alone can satisfy the deepest need and longing of my heart. Those who know of their need of God are blessed.

PRAYER ๐Ÿ™: Heavenly Father, increase my hunger for You. Show me the way that leads to everlasting peace and happiness. Through Christ Our Lord๐Ÿ™AMEN. (JWAD)

โ€œThey will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own desires, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander away to myths.โ€(2Tim 3-4)

This is what some churches, pastors and believers have turned into. Wonders and miracles workers or worshippers. True religion cannot consist in demanding adulation from others. Paul is telling me to be faithful to the teaching of Jesus, not to search for something to feed my hunger or selfish needs. Being persistent is the key! How do l perform my religious observances? Is it worshipping God or given honour to the pastor, priest, etc.? Why do l go to church; to hear what l want to hear? Received miracles? Show off my clothes? Money? Like the poor widow l can be a victim of religious establishment, when l am persuaded by my pastor that it is โ€˜holyโ€™ to give all to the church;to sow seed before l receive my blessings; to pay tithes when the money is to enriched few church elders (Mk.12:38-44). Jesus looks for what is in my heart.

PRAYER๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป: Heavenly Father, Father of all people. Thank You for this first week of the month. I bring before You the needs of those who know You and those who have never heard Your Name. Through Christ Our Lord๐Ÿ™๐ŸปAMEN.

โ€œYou must keep to what you have been taught and know to be true.โ€(2Tim.3:14)

What have l been taught about the Scriptures? Messiah? Church? Doctrine? Do l understand and keep to them? Paul instructs Timothy to abide in the sound doctrine he has been taught since childhood. This is because itโ€™s based on reliable foundations. And it will keep Timothy on the right path. Having had access to Hebrew Scriptures, inspired by God, Timothy has also received a treasure trove of teaching and guidance from his mother and grandmother, Eunice and Lois, respectively. Paulโ€™s words apply also to me to hold fast and stand firm. Scriptures teach me that Messiah would be the Son of David, and Jesus is the fulfilment of the Scriptures (Mk 12:35-37). For Paul, Christ, as Son of David, has come to free me from sufferings and persecutions. He will also rescue me from slavery fear, sin and other infectious diseases. If what l have been taught is adequate, then l have to acknowledge Who Christ is: The Son of God already on earth, sitting at the Right Hand of the Father Almighty and interceding for me and the world.

PRAYER ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป:Heavenly Father, l acknowledge You as my only Lord. Keep me under Your care and grant the prayers l have made, through Christ Our Lord๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป. AMEN. (JWAD)

10 Spiritual Reasons Why Your Son Should Be an Altar Server

Many parents encourage their children to excel in school, sports, and other activities. While these are good, there is also great value in helping a child grow closer to God. One beautiful way to do this is by allowing him to serve at the altar during Holy Mass. Here are ten powerful spiritual reasons why your son should be an altar server.

1. HE LEARNS TO LOVE THE HOLY MASS.
An altar server is not just watching the Mass; he is actively participating in it. This helps him develop a deeper appreciation for the Eucharist and the sacred mysteries of the Church.

2. HE GROWS CLOSER TO JESUS.
Serving near the altar places a child close to the celebration of the Eucharist, helping him build a stronger personal relationship with Christ.

3. HE DEVELOPS A SPIRIT OF SERVICE.
Jesus taught that greatness comes through serving others. Being an altar server teaches humility, responsibility, and a willingness to serve God and His people.

4. HE LEARNS DISCIPLINE AND REVERENCE. Altar servers are expected to be attentive, respectful, and prepared. These virtues often influence other areas of life, including school and family life.

5. HE GAINS KNOWLEDGE OF THE FAITH. Through regular participation in Mass and church activities, altar servers naturally learn more about Catholic teachings, prayers, and traditions.

6. HE BUILDS GOOD MORAL CHARACTER.
Serving at the altar encourages honesty, respect, obedience, and self-control, qualities that help shape a strong Christian character.

7. HE IS SURROUNDED BY POSITIVE INFLUENCES. The church provides a faith-filled environment where children can form friendships with others who share similar values and beliefs.

8. HE LEARNS THE IMPORTANCE OF COMMITMENT. Regular service teaches reliability and dedication. He learns that serving God requires faithfulness and perseverance.

9. IT CAN HELP HIM DISCERN GOD'S CALLING. Many priests discovered their vocation while serving at the altar. Even if he is not called to the priesthood, altar serving can help him listen more attentively to God's plan for his life.

10. HE RECEIVES SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS. Every act of service offered to God is valuable. By serving faithfully, a child grows spiritually and learns to place God at the center of his life.

In simple words, an altar server does much more than carry candles or assist the priest. He learns to love God, respect the Church, serve others, and grow in faith. In a world filled with distractions, altar serving can be a powerful way to help a young boy develop a strong spiritual foundation that will benefit him for the rest of his life.

Now you know.

"We wait for new Heaven and new Earth."(2 Pt 3:13)

Some people say life is a book: The first page, which is one's birth, and the last page, which is one's death, is known. In between is what one has to fill in. It's God Who writes the first and the last pages. To Peter, since l know the first page, there are things to do and ponder while l wait for the final page to be written by God: Am l living a holy and saintly life? Is my life blameless? Unsullied? Unblemished? Do l reflect on God's promise and patience? Whose image am l created?(Mk 12:13-17). These are the contents that need to fill the empty pages of my book of life as l wait for the new Heaven and the new the Earth. It is a period that l need to share the Gospel, pay taxes and care for others. It's a call to stand firm in faith no matter the storms that come to me. Can others tell to Whom l belong merely by looking at me? The New Heaven and the Earth is the home for the upright people, those who live in the image of God. I have been stamped with the image and sealed with the Holy Spirit since l am created in His own likeness. In between the waiting period, God is asking me to be open, sincere, and honest in all things l do.

PRAYER๐Ÿ™: Heavenly Father, because You have made me, l owe You the whole of my love: because You promised so much, l owe You all my being. Draw me to You in the fullness of love. Through Christ Our Lord๐Ÿ™AMEN.(JWAD)

"Through them you share the divine nature."(2 Pt 1:4)

Peter reminds me that God has granted me knowledge that is deep awareness of Him through Christ. During The Eucharist celebration, when a priest pours water into the wine he says; 'Lord, may we share in Your Divinity as You share in our humanity.' How do l share in the Divine Nature? Do l do what Christ does as a human? I am urged to live out my faith after a typical New Testament pattern:
1. To forgive as Christ does.
2. Make sacrifice out of love.
3. Reaching out to the poor, sick, lonely, and needy.
4. Intercede for others as Christ prays for me before the Father.
This is the journey to the vineyard God has given to me through Christ (Mk 12:1-12). Peter is found today trying to counteract false teachings, reminding this branch of the vine that, because of Christ their journey is towards participation of the divine nature.

PRAYER ๐Ÿ™: Heavenly Father, thank You for filling me with Your life and for the Divine Nature present in me. Now help me to follow You so that life can flow out of me to everyone l meet. Through Christ Our Lord.๐Ÿ™AMEN.
