Rev. Paul Langston-Daley = The Present is a Gift - Sometimes, when we see a friend or comrade in distress, all we want to do is help. But what is the best way to help? We've all heard stories of people who said or did the wrong thing. How can we best support and care for those we love? Especially when we don't know what to do?

Join us Sunday, June 14th at 10:30 a.m.

Emergence isn't a concept. It's something you've been living.
Ten months ago, we gathered around adrienne maree brown's Emergent Strategy and asked ourselves a question: how would the CUC — and how would you — actively practice emergence during the 2025–2026 church year?
We didn't ask for a plan. We asked for attention. For noticing. For staying curious about what wants to grow.
Now, ten months later, we're coming back together to share what we've seen.

On June 6, join us for the closing session of the Emergent Strategy Book Club — a two-hour conversation about what you've noticed in your personal life, your community, and in the broader work of building something more just and more alive.
You don't need to have attended the first session. You don't need to have read the book. You just need to be someone who has been paying attention — and who wants to think out loud with others who have too.

It has never been easy to be a person of progressive faith, especially in a time when Christian Nationalist ideas are so pervasive and religious practice can be manipulated in service to power and greed. Even in these painful times, let us remain steadfast in our Unitarian Universalist identity, confident in our knowing that our covenantal faith and practices, grounded in shared values, offer so much of what is needed to minister to this beautiful and struggling world.

As a people of a freely chosen faith centered on love, what spiritual teachings keep us grounded in the work? What comforts us in times of struggle? What moves us to make room for others’ perspectives and experiences in our own understandings of life? Treasure those resources. Celebrate them for the spiritual development that they offer. Above all else, share them with each other, for we become more than we were when we journey together.

This one's close to home. A recent article in The Tyee follows journalist Anjini Snape on a personal search for meaning — and it leads her straight to a Unitarian Universalist congregation on the North Shore of Vancouver. What she finds there isn't dogma or doctrine. It's community. Curiosity. Peo...

"[W]hat you are doing when you invite someone to come to church with you is you are inviting them to experience what you experience in your spiritual home. It is an invitation to deepening relationship."
