KUF Sunday Services -- September & October 2026

Renovations on the Kingston Unitarian Fellowship Building continue apace as you can see. Reports from the Building Committee keep us all informed of the progress.

So – Sunday Services begin on Sunday Sept 13th at Lord Strathcona Public School, 251 McMahon Ave, right across the street from the KUF Building.

Important Info

- We will meet in the gym at Lord Strathcona Public School. You can’t miss it as you enter the front doors.

- Religious Exploration (RE) for the children will be provided in a classroom in the school.

- Parking is available in the school parking lot (just to the west of the school)

- The school is accessible.

- Zoom will be provided, but, given the challenges of the site, it may not be the quality that Zoomers have come to expect. Please be patient! We’ll be back to full strength when we return to the KUF building!

September & October Sundays Schedule: 10:30 am start to all services

Sept 6 – Lake Ontario Park Pavilion - bring drinks, chair, and join the conversation

Sept 13 – Lord Strathcona Public School - 251 McMahon Ave

Sept 20 – Lord Strathcona Public School

Sept 27 – Lord Strathcona Public School

Oct 4 – Lord Strathcona Public School

Oct 13 – Holiday weekend – KUF Service will be on Zoom only

Oct 20 – Lord Strathcona Public School

Oct 27 – Lord Strathcona Public School

We will know in mid-October how the construction is progressing. Stay tuned. As the old children’s song goes:

The church is not a building

The church is not a steeple

The church is not a resting place

The church is the people

A huge thanks to the Building Committee for their work on the Renovations and to the Sunday Services Committee for their work to adjust to a whole new venue.

See you at KUF – wherever we meet! - Mara Shaw, President

June 28 -- Ask for Some Salt

In a traditional West African folktale and teaching a mother sends her child to borrow salt from the neighbours, even though they have salt at home. The mother in this teaching story understands that letting people give to you is as important as giving to them. Real community is built on mutual need, mutual gift, and the willingness to be seen as someone who sometimes doesn't have enough. On this final Sunday of the year, we close our season of Flourishing Together by asking what it would mean to build that kind of community. A community where we show up honestly, in need and in abundance, for one another. A community where we show up even when the building is closed for renovations, and even when we aren’t having regular Sunday gatherings for a few weeks.

Building Renovation Update -- Construction Begins!

Just a quick note to say that while engineering details are being finalized for the building permit, our building is being wrapped up for construction. Inside, the packed piles we made at the end of May are protected as much as possible from dust. Outside, the site is fenced off.

Thanks to all the helpers who got us ready for the demolition - you kept us on schedule, and you rock!

June 21 -- Imperfectly, With Love

It takes so many tiny acts of imperfect love to build the connections that allow us to flourish. As we near the close of our congregational year, this Father's Day service honours the many ways parents and parental figures have shaped who we are and who we are becoming, and how the love we live imperfectly, day by day, is itself part of our becoming. We flourish together across the generations because those who came before shaped us, their imperfect love becomes our own, and we carry it forward for those who come after us.
