𝐃𝐫. 𝐀𝐥𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐡𝐢 is a 𝐏𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭 at Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Queen's University Health Sciences.

He works in the 𝐏𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐜 at the KHSC’s Hotel Dieu Hospital (HDH) site. His work includes follow-up of Pediatric patients with congenital heart disease, acquired heart disease, heart failure or arrhythmia. He also runs a 𝐅𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐜 for prenatal diagnosis of congenital heart disease by fetal echocardiography, in addition to delivery planning and family counselling.

This April, he helped launch a new initiative at KHSC helping children with congenital or inherited heart disease safely participate in school physical activities and sports - and feel more included while doing so, the “𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭,” designed to give schools clear, individualized guidance on which activities a child can safely take part in, what to watch these kids for and what to do in case of emergencies.

The project was developed through funding from KHSC’s 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 & 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲-𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞 (𝐏𝐅𝐂𝐂) 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝, supported by donor contributions through the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (UHKF).

The ISK is forming a new community building team called the Suhbah Squad. The goal of this team is to help us all feel more connected by hosting smaller, regular events that give everyone a chance to really connect with one another and of course with the masjid.

This October marks the 20th Islamic History Month in Canada. We are grateful to the City of Kingston for proclaiming October as Islamic History Month in our community. This year the theme of IHM is Islamic Calligraphy: A Living Legacy of Faith, Art, and Expression. As per our annual tradition we will host an Open House at the Islamic Centre of Kingston on Sunday, October 25 from 2-4 pm. In line with this year’s theme we invite local calligraphers and artists to join us to exhibit (and possibly sell) their work. Calligraphy is preferred but we would love to help you exhibit Islamic artistic expression.

Also, we would like to make a request for community members who may have pieces that we could use as part of an exhibit for our guests.

We have been informed that the sister of Hawa Tieb, Zubayda Abdallah Abuzayed, has passed away in England.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajioon.

May Allah SWT grant her maghfirah, expand and illluminate her grave, accept her deeds and elevate her to Jannat-ul-Ferdous.

May Allah SWT grant sabr, strength and comfort to the family.
