Plans are underway for another year of the Intercultural Youth Retreat! This year we will be hosted by our Quebec leadership, bringing together 30 youth from Quebec and 30 youth from the rest of Canada for a week of intercultural worship, discipleship and mission!

Once again, the Lorne Park Foundation is showing their support with a generous challenge - - when individuals and churches give to the Intercultural Youth Retreat, the Lorne Park Foundation will match donations up to $2500!

So please join us on this adventure with the next generation in prayer and generosity. You can donate at www.fmcic.ca/give (select - intercultural youth retreat - in the drop down menu).

"Pentecost is a celebration of God...a celebration of God's power...a celebration of God's desire to empower us and to dwell within us."
-Mark Hart

May we reflect this week on what Pentecost means for us as believers. Thank you, Lord, for sending your Spirit to be with us and help us.

Ultimately, waiting on God is about receiving His will for our lives. When we embrace God’s plan, we are not only demonstrating trust, but we can also experience peace in the waiting. Accepting His will means surrendering our own desires and ambitions, allowing God to lead us on the best path. By aligning our hearts with His, our waiting becomes a journey of faith filled with hope.

Waiting on God can be a time of growth, where our spiritual strength is developed. This phase allows us to rely on God, forcing us to let go of our own control and learn to depend solely on Him. Through this dependence, we grow spiritually, enhancing our relationship with God and preparing us for what He has in store for us in the future.

God often calls us to be patient while He works in our lives. This waiting is not just about sitting back; it is a time for us to trust, pray, and prepare for the blessings that are on their way. As we patiently wait for God to answer our prayers, we can cultivate faith that strengthens our relationship with Him and deepens our understanding of His timing.

In our current sermon series we are looking at eight you can pray everyday.
Number eight: "Confess sin and ask for the filling of the Holy Spirit"
These two fit together. Sin grieves the Spirit. Confession clears the ground for renewed Filling.
Often the sense of God’s presence starts rising even before you get to this point. But
confession and filling belong together because sin blocks intimacy and surrendered
openness makes room for fresh empowering.
Prayer Suggests (starting points):
• Confess quickly and honestly.
• Ask for cleansing.
• Ask to be freshly filled with the Spirit.
• Ask for joy, peace, strength, and sensitivity to God’s presence.

In our current sermon series we are looking at eight you can pray everyday.
Number six: "Pray for character"
Spiritual gifts matter, but character is what carries a life to the finish line. Your character is who you are when no one is looking. It is revealed when things aren’t going your way, or in hard times, during challenges and suffering, or when you are tried. What is one character trait you are needing to develop this week? Pray about it.
Prayer Suggests (starting points):
• “Grow this trait in me.”
• “Do not let me grow weary.”
• “Help me finish well.”
• “Let me run with perseverance.”
• “I do not want to waste the race.”

In our current sermon series we are looking at eight you can pray everyday.
Number six: "Deny yourself and take up your cross"
This is a prayer of surrender. It also requires God's discernment. At times we try to carry problems or burdens that are not ours to carry. What is a "cross"? It will be different for each of us. For some the daily cross is removing a distraction or eliminating a harmful action for others it will be learning to love an enemy.

Prayer Suggests (starting points):
• “Lord, what are You asking me to lay down?”
• “What cross am I to carry right now?”
• “I choose Your will over my own.”
• “Help me obey even when it is costly.”

In our current sermon series we are looking at eight you can pray everyday.

The fifth point is to "Give thanks in all circumstances"
Thanksgiving realigns the soul. The practice of gratitude helps fight anxiety, self-pity, and unbelief.

Prayer Suggests (starting points):
• Thank Him for obvious blessings.
• Thank Him for daily mercies.
• Thank Him for answered prayer.
• Thank Him even in hardship for what He is producing through it.

Come back for the next prayer point.
