Holy Trinity’s Annual Awarding of its “Trinity Award” for Excellence in Ministry
25 years ago, Holy Trinity in Merrickville began an annual tradition of recognizing and celebrating a family or individual for their service and leadership. This year, Dan Spring, a former warden, was recognized for his tireless efforts. Dan brings a strong commitment to the church and to the wider church community sharing
Holy Trinity’s vision to be a Christian family, called by God and to be a community always known for its inclusiveness.

The award is a ceramic replica of the church crafted by a former local artist Steve Sanger and is presented on Trinity Sunday to coincide with the church’s patronal feast day.

Parish of North Hastings Food Bank
The Maynooth and Area Food Bank, operating out of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, is a vital community resource serving residents across Hastings Highlands and neighbouring rural communities. Run by dedicated volunteers and supported by local churches and donors, the food bank provides essential groceries to individuals and families in need twice each month. In a region where services can be limited, it offers not only practical assistance but also a strong expression of local care and compassion, embodying the spirit of community support and shared responsibility.

In this months issue of 'Do you know,' Rev. Dr. Mike Michielin asks: 'Do you know why the Trinity matters?'

"The Trinity matters because ultimate reality is the Trinity and thus, what gives meaning to the world and human life is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. In saying this, have I already lost your attention? I imagine that a great many people, including Christians, if asked ‘What is the Trinity?’ would begin their answer in the following way. ‘It is a doctrine that …’. And I suspect the question would conjure up in their minds the picture of a group of senile and bearded clergy sitting around a table and thinking up ways of making the Christian religion difficult for the laity. ‘Ah, I have got an idea,’ says the most long bearded and senile of the party twittering, as he sucks his toothless gums, ‘Let’s tell them that God is both three and one; that will give them something to think about.’"
