As we look at the school year starting, as we look at fall beginning, as we look at new stages and seasons in our life, we say that scary phrase: 'I'm not ready.'

I'm not ready for the summer to end. I'm not ready for my kids to grow up. I'm not ready to grow up myself... I'm not ready for what is changing.

The gospel doesn't demand that we live our life perfectly. Jesus doesn't arrive saying, 'Appreciate harder. Follow these five steps... Stop wasting time. Get your life together, people.' Jesus doesn't come to shame us for how we're living our life.

Maybe you're not ready for what's next. That's okay. It's okay. You don't have to live what's next today... And the honest truth might be, 'I'm not ready.' Maybe you don't have to be.

Our community is going through a lot right now with the wildfires so close to home. This prayer is for the crews working around the clock, for anyone feeling scared or unsettled, and for those who've lost their homes. Home isn't a building, it's the people who show up for each other.
