I love the way this woman speaks about creation/creativity. It reminds me of process theology. She is all about intention and being careful to be authentic and not performative or repetitive. I used to wish I was Mary Oliver. Learning from her is one thing, trying to write with her voice damages my voice.

Active Transportation is a great way to get around! This is the fall celebration of Go By Bike BC and this year there is a documentary film showing at Okanagan College on Wed. Free or by donation.

Kelowna Cycling Coalition is putting on the film Motherload directed by Liz Canning at Okanagan College Student Theatre. Doors open at 6pm...film to follow at 7pm.

Secure bike parking available and I heard some bike repairs might be possible too!

Happy Pride, Kelowna! 🌈

Kelowna Unitarians is proud to be a welcoming space for 2SLGBTQI+ folx. Here are some things you may not know about us:

💒 Kelowna's first legal same-sex wedding ceremony took place at Kelowna Unitarians in 2005! 

❤️ As far back as 1997, Kelowna Unitarians completed training to become the first recognized "Welcoming Congregation" in Kelowna! This also made KU one of the first welcoming congregations in all of Canada. 

🏳️‍⚧️ We also now offer personalized Gender Confirmation ceremonies at our sanctuary in downtown Kelowna!

For the second year running, we had a blast hanging out at the Kelowna Pride Festival! Here are a few snaps from our day. 

Be sure to swipe to see the second pic. ➡️ The flag you see was originally part of a 500 ft. banner created by Calgarian Unitarian youth in support of same-sex marriage rights. 👏

The flag was taken to Parliament Hill in June 2005 for a rally. In July of that year, equal marriage became law across Canada! 🏳️‍🌈 The flag was subsequently cut up into smaller pieces and continues to be used across Canada today. It's a piece of Canadian and Unitarian history and we're grateful to River from for stopping by our booth to say hello!
